Tuesday Lunch in the Quarter
Muriel's is wonderful. The view is just as good as the food.
Thanks, NOLA board // abbreviated report
Even though we live here, it's the only place my husband wants to eat every time we go to the Quarter.
Mardi Gras Food Heaven - A Week In Review
Nice review and pictures! I live here and I love when I am able to play tourist. It's no fun to have cheap martinis and have to go back to work. At least once a year I try to stay in the warehouse district overnight so we can have some fun.
Good Restaurant to Propose At?
Commander's is our go-to spot when we want a flawless romantic evening. I've had more exciting food but it's very good and they will take care of you.
Where to eat in Marrero?
We get plate lunches and poboys from Frazier's. It's located at 2841 Barataria, near Ames Blvd. It's nice home-style cooking, casual and inexpensive.
Put on yer reading glasses! It's Kukubura's trip report! (Mr. B's, Commander's, Gal's, Dante's, Dizzy's, Green Goddess, more...)
Very nice kukubura! Love the pics, the reviews, everything. You can really tell how much fun y'all were having.
1 lb. Can of Lump Crab Meat - What's Your Favorite Recipe?
I know I'm late to the party but I like to saute some onion in butter and olive oil then add garlic and sliced mushrooms. Add to this some cayenne type seasoning, a dash of worcestershire and a dash of lemon juice. When the mushrooms are just about done to your liking add some thickened cream with cheese (I use asiago), then toss in some cooked pasta (or fresh uncooked), then the crab. Toss and serve. The other thing I might do with it is make a seafood spud with your normal potato toppings.
Lunch spot near Port of New Orleans
Mother's is not any better. I'd recommend Nola Grocery but I will be accused of being friends with the owner if I try to promote the place.
Looking for the Soul of New Orleans
I do work in the area but I would not say I am close friends with the owner. I met him after I ate there a few times and he knows me as a customer. There are tables inside as well, have you been inside? Are you trying to be rude for any reason in particular?
Looking for the Soul of New Orleans
Nola Grocery - get the debris tots (or fries), roast beef poboy or some kind of cajun meat poboy. Every time I tell the office I'm walking over to pick up poboys I get a long list to bring back. Yeah it's not easy walking about six blocks each way carrying half a dozen poboys and sides!
I suddenly own six pounds of beef chuck
You are so right. I'd never guess that was the recipe but I've had 'em and they are killer.

Yep, Paul Artigues!
Need a venue for a crawfish boil for a wedding reception
I was going to suggest The Foundry too, but it might be a tad expensive. Beautiful place and they will surely take good care of you.
Trip Report – Johnny’s Po-Boys, K-Paul, Atchafalaya, Sylvain, Domenica, Rib Room, Mr. B’s Bistro, Luke, American Sector, Emeril’s, Cochon Butcher
French 75's are delicious. I didn't think I liked gin. Guess I do. Nice report!

Great review! I think Cochon is ok, but nothing special. Every dish we try at Green Goddess becomes our new favorite. It's nice to go when they are not busy so the chefs have time to chat. Chris is like a human google search when it comes to food.
New Orleans Outside-the-Quarter for NYE
Frenier Landing is mostly terrible. The Crab Trap is closed until February.
Unexpected guests at a dinner party?
People hardly surprise me anymore. You handled it so much better than I would have. Maybe the tables will be turned on them someday. What goes around comes around.
Unexpected guests at a dinner party?
LOL great response. I was wondering what happened, too.
New Rouse's on Baronne and Girod
Went there today on my lunch hour. They have every kind of prepared food you could ask for (including pizza made to order), a fantastic produce department (they had stuff I'd never even seen before) and friendly staff. I did not have the time to check out the entire store but I'll be back often enough to know it like the back of my hand, probably within a month. The raw shrimp looked great but I didn't notice the price. I got several varieties of olives from the olive bar, manchego cheese, Abbey Ale and a stuffed artichoke to go. My friend got two large fresh turkey wraps for just under five bucks. There were so many different free samples you could make a lunch out of them.
What to bring back from New Orleans
I like to slice potatoes french-fry style, toss with olive oil and Tony's and bake at 400 til done. It's my FIL's favorite way to eat fries!
Day 5 - A Phoenician's Tour of NOLA (Galatoire's, Dante's Kitchen, Bar Uncommon)
Ha ha ha ha! Gallamander's! Ya know, I NEVER order chicken at a restaurant but after one bite of hubby's chicken under a brick I had no desire to eat my duck dish.
Day 6 - A Phoenician's Tour of NOLA (Parkway Bakery, Evan's Creole Candy Company, Cafe du Monde)
These are some of the most wonderful reviews I have ever read. Thank you for coming and we hope to see you again!
6 old ladies doing New Orleans
Have you been to the Green Goddess? The food is fabulous and they have an extensive drink menu. They have a website with all the info if you want to google it. We love the Napoleon House too, sitting in the courtyard is fun. You've probably been there though. With this weather I'd try to enjoy some outside dining and drinking and both are available at the places I mentioned.

1) late chow on Friday? 2) Adelaide or Louisiana Bistro?
The last couple of times I ate at Adelaide I was less than impressed. Never been to Louisiana Bistro so I can't help you there.

It's across the street from Tommy's on Tchoupitoulas. The chef is Guy Sockrider.

Muriel's is fantastic. I don't know what your budget is but I'd go there. Anything you order is the best thing on the menu. You can't beat the location, either. Edited to add - you don't have to get all dressed up, it's all about the food at Muriel's.
