What do you put in your chicken soup?

Depending if you want a tart soup- I add a little white wine vinegar or spicy- a little Siracha!

Rockycat- I live downtown so I tend to stay in the area. I am a true ITB (Inside the Beltline) type. I have been to Pho Far East and its great. I have gone to Dalat (for 13 years) so often we are on a first name basis.

Each establishment tends to have their own style so I do like to mix it up occasionally but my partner prefers no surprises and like to go to the same places.

The El Rodeo in City Market is where we tend to go on First Friday Gallery walks as most of the galleries and the City's ArtSpace artist lofts/wharehouse is right next door!

Same thing with Sushi Tsune. They know me there and I really like it when an establishment knows its customers.

What's the difference in French Oven and Dutch oven?

I have seen them called "Casserole pots", too. All the same.

Crock Pot versus Dutch Oven cooking

I don't like to leave any appliance on when I am not home so I use my dutch oven most often. I use the crock pot sometimes if I need an extra pot or I want to keep something constantly warm when I have guest over.

Affordable Raleigh Brunch?

Irregardless Cafe, Ciago's Italian, Neomonde, just to name a few. I would also check out http://www.godowntownraleigh.com/ or other side for Raleigh - not any of the national sites!

RESTAURANTS

No. I don't like take out food so I don't do it. If you want take out go to McDonalds. There was a recent study that it only takes 10 minutes more to make a meal from scratch then it does to get take out or go through a dirve through.

How soon after a new restaurant opens is too soon to try it?

I wait until its not so busy that you will not receive good service. Usually about two months. It also gives you time to get feed back from your trendiest of friends!
