Cheese Tasting in Switzerland??

Does anyone know of a good cheese tasting/tour in Switzerland? I'd like to taste different varieties and also have some info about them as well. Think wine tasting but for cheese. I'll be in Zurich & Geneva but willing to stop anywhere along the way.

Thanks!

"Cronuts" in LA?

Went to Frances in Little Tokyo. They were OK but definitely not as crave worthy as the original in NYC's DA. The original has more bite/chew & less filling which I think makes it a hands down winner. Frances has a choice of vanilla, chocolate, or blueberry & you can call an order in. They make them throughout the day & I could tell the ones I got were pretty fresh.

Great little spots in Puerto Rico?

Not in the Condado area but we really, really loved Verde Mesa after all the heavy typical Caribbean fare it was a delicious change. Very unique, farm fresh, organic, good for you food. Cocktails & desserts were great too. One of our favorite meals of the trip! If you do an evening in Old San Juan, look into it.

Fog breaker recipe

I had a Fog Breaker (coffee/expresso drink) at Crema in Monterey & now I am dying to replicate it. Does anyone have a recipe? I know it has honey & cinnamon but not sure if I am missing something or if my ratios are off.

Any recommendations for food in or around the Brooklyn Flea at Fort Greene?

So glad to hear that! It sounds like we will do a hodge podge from a few different vendors! Anyone have any favorite sweets from the Flea?

Food Trucks and other recommendations - July/August

I have to respectfully disagree w/your comment about Pok Pok. As someone who has spent a good deal of time in Thailand w/my Thai friends & their families I can saw it is the most authentic Thai food I've had in the States. I've even been there w/Thai friends that have said it reminds them of home. A lot of the dishes are not the typical ones that you find in most restaurants. They are a combination of street food and food that Thai's eat in their own homes. Very unamericanized. Just my 2 cents ; )

Any recommendations for food in or around the Brooklyn Flea at Fort Greene?

Hi we will be going to the Brooklyn Flea at Fort Greene for the first time. I know they have food there but is there anything worthwhile there or would you recommend going outside the flea to eat? We are both very adventurous eaters and would love to try something unique & fresh. Also, we love sweets. Price really isn't an issue but we will be dressed casual so nothing too stuffy. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Suggestions for other nibbles around Nong's 10th & Alder?

I am counting the days 'til my trip back to my food nirvana, aka Portland. Our first stop off the plane will be to Nong's Khao Man Gai on a Thursday afternoon. I would also like to try some new spots. Blue Star doughnuts are on the list. Any other suggestions that are within walking distance? I am open to anything unique & delish but am from So Cal so Mexican is probably last on my list unless it is something unbelievable. Looking for quick bites in the area not sit down. Would also love to find a good unique ice tea, spritzer, or lemonade type drink too if anyone knows of any! Thx in advance!!

Food Trucks and other recommendations - July/August

I love PokPok & it is a must do in my opinion. Tasty & Sons is also great. You may also want to look into Salt & Straw for unique ice cream that tastes good (translation not odd just for the sake of being odd). Also, Toro Bravo has great tapas and ambiance. Have a delicious time!!

Specialty Foodie souvieners to take home

Hi all. Here is what I ended up getting, thanks for all your input!
Wailua Soda...loved the Lilikoi. So much so that I am contemplating ordering more & having it shipped. Also like the Pacifikool Ginger drinks from the Ala Moana Farmers Market since we didn't have time to go to the KCC one :( but they don't sell the syrup there, just drinks!
Honey & Macadamia butter from the Aloha Swapmeet...super good!
Kaua'i Kookie Co.'s - Kona Macadamia my fave
Island Princess Mele Macs - brought them back for coworkers & they loved them

I tried most of the other things but ran out of room (both my luggage & stomach! LOL). Can't wait for the next trip!

Looking for a great place for lunch close by Salt & Straw in Alberta Arts District

Hi Chow Hounds!
Looking for a Chow worthy lunch spot on a Thursday that will allow us to have room for a couple of scoops from Salt & Straw after (Alberta Arts) location. We are very adventurous eaters. We are planning to do a brunch at Tasty & Sons another day as I know that is close but we figure we won't have room after that! We love the whole farm to table movement or even food trucks/pods if there are any close by. We will have a car & will be coming from the airport. Incidentally, anything else to do or see in the area?

Thanks,
Crystal

I have plenty of room for stuff to take back so I appreciate all the feedback. Portuguese sausage & taro chips have been added to the list!
Does anyone know if there are any good seasoning mixes for Poke to make it fresh at home? I think I bought one once a long time ago from Hilo Hattie. Any others out there?
