My husband & I went there last night...they just opened last week. Nice space...plenty of room between tables. They started us out with a small bowl of nuts, cheese and salami cubes and bread with very tasty chimichurri dip. Then they sent out an oxtail and trotter terrine- amazing! It wasn't a menu item and the waitress said the chef sends out something different each night. |

Went last night-made the reservation through Modo Mio. Worth the parking issues! Still love Modo Mio.. but I can see coming here for awhile. The portions were large...not turista menu sized. We had 2 antipasta -split a pasta- 2 secondi- split a dessert and it was too much food for us...I had to bring 3/4 of my secondi home. We'd definitely order less next time...which I'm hoping is soon! |

There's a place in the RTM, or was, several years ago. Needed to buy some for my sons french class. |

Where Do You Want to Go in 2011? Went to Kennett soon after they opened-had the lamb burger and the risotto. Great beer/cocktail list. |

Meme is not a byob, except, I think, on Wed. nights. |

Bread Pudding, Center City Philadelphia Jack's Firehouse used to have it with chocolate bourbon sauce. Not sure if it was on the dinner menu...we use to get it at the bar. ----- |

We (myself, husband, & son(15) went Wed around 9. No reservations, waited around 30 minutes for an inside table (plenty outside), |

We ate their Thurs. The octopus salad, halibut w/pea ravioli and the pavlova were excellent! The corn risotto, salmon, and chocolate dessert, were good...not excellent. French press coffee was a bit watered down. As far as a comparison to Bibou...Fond is pretty much in the same ballpark price wise...maybe a bit less. Service and ambience-wise...Bibou is more polished- even their first week. But Fond really fits well the the vibe on Passyunk. I'm happy to see a replacement for Clementines. |

Thanks, Buckethead. I saw the menu, but no prices. I'll let you know how we make out! |

I'm wondering if anyone has been yet? We have reservations for tomorrow. I've seen the menu...but no prices. More LBF alum...if it'sanything like Bibou and I'll have two favorite spots! |

Went last night and you really couldn't tell it was their first. Enjoyed it so much we're going back Sunday! Had the salmon with corn cream and escargot with fava bean app. |

Many thanks! I'll report back! |

I heard they were opening this week. and am anxious to go. Can't seem to get a phone number. Has anyone else heard anything? Thanks. |

Has anyone been to Coquette lately (2009)? We were at the bar on a Friday night (10ish)several weeks ago. Drinks were great (Manhattans)...and oysters were only a $1! Also had the pate which was only ok. Unfortunately the place was empty. When we left, around 11:30, there was only one couple left at the bar and the dining room wasempty. |

Great food in Pittsburgh near Wm. Penn Hotel Omni We'll be in Pittsburgh in a couple weeks to visit/feed our son, who probably hasn't had any great food since he left for school in August. I wondered if there was anywhere worhtwhile nearby the Omni. I've seen some great suggestions on a few other threads...so we can drive/take a cab...but if there's any place that stands out within walking distance, I'd really appreciate the recommendation. |

Gotta agree with dagalze & dalig...we were very disappointed. Our service was reasonable for it being RW, although there was chaos around us...several waiters were shouting instructions...pretty tacky for a Pierre establishment. The entrees were good, but not outstanding...(flat iron steak and salmon). The appetizers( lamb/pasta & the scallops) and desserts (chocolate cake&creme brulee) were the big disappointments. I did not even finish the creme brulee.. it tasted like it was from Trader Joe's! |
|
|
We went early on, before the LaBan review. The service was fine, we ate outside, it was pretty dark inside. I only remember the frogs leg appetizer and that was quite good. Although I wouldn't give it 3 bells, I didn't think it deserved 1. I know we commented that we'd go back again. |

Give them a try. We were there Sat nite and there were about 4-5 other tables. Like SFTP experience, they were out of a few things(ice creme sticks in my mind being a dessert person), however what we had was excellent. We shared the tartar appetizer, had the ravioli and turbo entrees, and gluttons that we are, ordered 3 desserts...buttercream cake (it was small and we brought it home!), lime tart and the creme brulee trio. We'd would definitely go back in a few weeks...we spoke with the chef/owner and he seems like he knows what needs to be corrected. |
