Keurig vs Tassimo?
We have the Keurig Platinum coffee brewer and love it. I know that on a cup by cup basis there are many machines that are a lot cheaper to brew but, we will just call the Keurig an indulgence. As previously mentioned, there are so many varieties of coffee, tea, hot cocoa, etc to choose from. Most stores including grocery, Walmart and so on carry at least some flavors. I drink my regular and decaf coffee without extra additives so the creamers and other extras are not important to me. I have not used the Flavia, Tassimo or similar products so cannot speak about them. Our Keurig brewer needs the water reservoir filled, then the proper cup size button pushed then you are ready to brew. Throw the K-cup in the trash and that is it.
There are also several different ways to store and display the many different K-cups as listed on their website.

T.G.I. Friday's Jack Daniel's glaze
I know that chains like T.G.I. Fridays get picked apart quite a bit in here and some of the critique I agree with. I do, however, love the Jack Daniel's sauce and glaze used of various menu items. It seems as though it is not available for purchase in the stores. Can anyone help me locate it or a similar sauce. I have seen some recipes that are suppose to taste just like it.
Thanks,

Love's BBQ Rib Sauce?
There seems to be just one, in Jakarta, Indonesia. It is just too long of a drive from Arizona. Looks like you can order their 'Q' sauce online and maybe get a franchise open for all of us!

Alphy's?
Thanks Bob for all the interesting information. My family was friends with one of the managers of the Alpha Beta store in Pico Rivera, CA. Please let me know if the last name, 'Heron' rings a bell. Not absolutely sure on spelling. We lost touch with the family over the past few decades. Again, Thanks!

I am not ashamed to admit that I enjoy Famous Dave's. I have "Feast"ed there on more than one occasion. I may try Memphis next time I am up in L.V.

Memphis BBQ: How are they?
I just surfed into the Memphis BBQ website and must say, the photos and description of the food sure looks good. I have tried other BBQ joints (both chain and Mom & Pop) and am always looking for good 'Q'. Anyone have any good or bad comments about them?
Thanks,

Turkey from Honeybaked Ham?
Good question. We too are thinking about the HoneyBaked Turkey and Ham. We have always loved the ham and wonder how well they prepare their turkeys. I have the booklet from HoneyBaked which I ordered from the website.

Pierside Seafood Restaurant (Pismo Beach): Not Too Good
Haa, yes, toodie jane, I agree. After I typed my critique of the restaurant, I edited my notation to make sure I included Pismo Beach as the location. NOT Pete's Pierside on the Harford Pier in Avila Beach. We may drive up to Morro Bay tomorrow then return to Pismo Beach Lighthouse Suites for our last night on the Central Coast before returning to the HOT Arizona desert. Maybe we will try the Bayside Cafe. I believe I got a cup of coffee there years ago. And regarding glbtrtr comments, I had to laugh. When we were in HotLix at Pismo the other night, one of the employees tried to get me to try a meal worm. Although it looked delicious, I respectfully declined.

No more Hebrew National Hot Dogs at Costco?
Ok, here is the latest Hebrew National Hot Dog sightings at Costco. To date they are still at the Henderson, Nevada and the Santa Maria, California Costcos! Keep letting management know we still want the HN deal! Not Firklands.

Pierside Seafood Restaurant (Pismo Beach): Not Too Good
What a difference a year makes. Last September (2008), we made our trek to downtown Pismo Beach to eat at the Pierside Seafood Restaurant. It has always been a.....well.....uhhhh.......lets just call it a 'built on the beach, beachy style restaurant' where the deep fried fish & chips were pretty good.
Now, Sept. 22, 2009, we ate at the Pierside at sundown this evening. What a difference one year can make. The place was pretty empty, it was a Tuesday evening after all. We were seated up stairs which has a commanding view of the Pismo Pier extending out into the Pacific Ocean. Now, if you could just see through the filthy windows. The view also looked down on the torn fabric covered patio. All the tables were dirty when we first arrived. After being escorted to our table, we had to wait while a feeble attempt was made to wipe down one of the filthy tables. Once seated on the nicely duct taped booths, we ordered. The food was delivered promptly by a pleasent waitress who had to climb up and down the stairs. We noticed that the food portions had been cut down in size. Most prices increased. The little extras that management apparently feel customers don't care about (ie, salt water taffey at end of meal) have been eliminated. Even all of the fiberglass fish and other aquatic life replicas were missing.
If there are indeed new owners like we heard, one would hope that they get their act together soon, before they lose any more customers. My wife told me that she would like to avoid the Pierside Seafood restaurant on our next trip up to the Central Coast.

Paulas Pancakes in Solvang
My wife and I travel up to the Central Coast from HOT Arizona almost every Sept. One of our absolute favorite food stops is Paula's Pancakes. Like other comments, the place can be busy and the parking challenging if you opt to park in front of Paula's. They only serve breakfast and lunch and although it is a small restaurant, it does have outside patio seating if you wish. The Swedish pancakes along with the eggs and sausage or bacon is wonderful I always enjoy their fresh squeezed orange juice and top it all off with a cup of coffee.

Wendy's Square Burgers...it freaks me out!
Once you have completed your 12 step program dealing with square burgers, it's on to rectangle fish. Especially the breaded rectangle fish which also includes learning about their natural habitat.

Waffle House! Are they any good?
I guess that if first they built a Waffle House near me, I would also have to take my own real butter for my waffle or pancakes. I'm getting hungry now. Hey WH, build us a Waffle House!

Is it just me or is anyone else getting tired of those coated french fries? A really good french fry is getting harder to find.

Bobs Big Boy
I also appreciate the history on Mr. Bob Wian! As previously mentioned, I grew up around Bob's Big Boy attending the Whittier drive-up store several times. We have lots of memories. Thanks a lot, Bob B.

Best Fried chicken chain
And a reply to my last comment about the Lake Havasu Big Boy inking out their Pappy Parker's Fried Chicken, Big Boy has now inked out their Lake Havasu Big Boy restaurant! Geez. Guess I should have just been happy enough with the BB Combo.

Long John Silver's-yea or nea?
The LJS in Fort Mohave, Arizona is a hit-n-miss type affair. Combo'ed with a Taco Bell the fish is pretty good while the Hushpuppies are always good. The last Chicken Plank I had tasted as though it had set out under a heat lamp for decades. I also had to laugh when I compared the combo meal that I had purchased with the photo placed near the cash register. Nope, not even close. And the crunchies (the best part) that are supposed to be in the bottom of the paper tray? You could pick 'em all up with a thumb and finger. Always ask how long it has been since it was cooked. I will when I visit Long John Silvers our any fast food joint.

Ihop-crap
Now I really do enjoy the bottomless coffee carafe placed on the table at IHOP's. And, to monkeyeroticas comment. I think I would stay away from the Denny's which is always getting robbed too!

Lucille's BBQ - Lake Forest,CA - just me or????
We tried our first Lucille's just this last summer at the Lake Forest location and really enjoyed it. Now, we also really enjoy Hof's Hut and usually visit the Torrance location. With owner, Craig Hofman, changing the Orange, CA Hof's to a mini version of Lucille's BBQ (apparently not yet named), we are hoping that they leave the rest of the Hof's Huts alone. Hof's has always had really good food (burgers) and desserts!
