Savannah, HiltonHead Island, Tybee, Beaufort,St Helena Island and Murrells Inlet

My experiences at Johnson Creek Tavern have also been widely varied. But, the trend was definitely downward. The place is dirty and the service is horrible. It was so bad last visit, we vowed never to return.

I think Boondock's is a great place to eat. 35 cent shrimp (fried or boiled) on Wednesdays is an excellent deal. Never had a problem with service.

Serious Barbecue has closed (dispute with the landlord). Dukes has also closed. A new restaurant, Smokey Chef's, is open on Sea Island Expressway.

My rankings are:

1st. Smokey Chef
2nd. Sgt. White's
3rd. Big Joes

10 Best Southern Hotdogs?

I know Skins has a great following, but I think they are tasteless. Bland boiled weiners and spiceless chili. There's a reason for the Texas Pete bottle on every table.

Restaurants @ Hilton Head & Savannah

For the love of God, do not tell people to go to The Sea Shack. Tell them it's terrible. You can hardly get in the place now and they are always running out of sweet potato cornbread. I think it has cocaine in it.

Low country food South Carolina to Savannah

Mrs. Wilkes is worth the wait. The vegetables are excellent. I'll have to try Sweet Potatoes.

Columbus, GA - Taking My Graduating Soldier to Dinner

I have had several good experiences with The Cannon. It's a brewpub. Good food and craft beers (including root beer).

Congrats to your son.

3rd. Duke's BBQ (pretty good fried chicken too)
a distant 4th. Big Joes

Southern Hot Dog Quest (SHDQ)

I know a lot of folks like Skins, but to me they are very bland, almost tasteless. The last location I tried (Mauldin) served only Pepsi products and bottled tea. No sweet tea. No Coke. No thanks.

Nu-Way in Macon, Warner-Robins GA

Betty's In Marietta is now Brandi's (same great dogs). Some of the spiciest chili and best sweet tea around.
