Many thanks for all the hints, are there any places that weren't listed above that you think are well worth going to?

Have I made some good choices for restaurants in Berlin?

Myself and the other half will be visiting Berlin for the first item next week. I have had a quick scan of the net and guide books and the following seem decent, but not too expensive. Any hints or tips on which ones are well worth a visit and which ones to avoid would be much appreciated. Plus if any need advance bookings of more than a couple of days please let me know so I can start getting booking now!

Recs needed for pubby places in Montreal

Thanks for all the advice everyone, have loads to go on now

Recs needed for pubby places in Montreal

Thanks for the recs so far, no am happy with relaxed cafes and bistros - am just looking for decent relaxed places with a nice atmosphere and somewhere you can just drop in, rather than book up in advance.

Francophone places are fine as I speak enough French to get around.

Recs needed for pubby places in Montreal

I'll be in Montreal fairly shortly and have a few places in mind to eat. What would be helpful though is know of any pub sort of places which do decent food and get a good beer, as I won't want to eat fancy every night, but it would be nice to still enjoy tasty food in more relaxed surroundings.

Any recs would be appreciated.

The Corner Room [London]

I went last night, 2 of us got there for 8 and had an hour wait, which we spent in the cocktail bar. I was ok with an hour as I was expecting it, but any longer and I might have got tetchy, A larger party of four people seemed to have a wait of over 90 minutes.

Great food anyway, the pork and bread pudding is delicious

Please let me know if my NYC choices are good picks

Cheers for all the advice so far guys.

Are the Italian choices fairly solid for the price bracket?

The Corner Room [London]

Am thinking of going tomorrow but a little concerned about the wait - I guess if I get there for 7.30pm then we (there will be 2 of us) should be seated by about 8.30pm? I generally like to book tables for 9pm but don't want to risk turning up at about 8.30pm and being made to wait till around 10!

Bosnians in London

I can't think of any Bosnian restaurants, but there appears to be something here - http://forkandflag.blogspot.com/2010_.... I've actually been to Bosnia and enjoyed the food, although it was quite different to whats on that link - have attached a couple of pics (it was a restaurant in Mostar).

Please let me know if my NYC choices are good picks

I've chosen a list of places following looking on here, guide books, etc. These picks are either lower or mid range price points (the high end stuff is easier to choose myself). I am in New York for a few days so i won't be doing all of these, but would be nice to have a list of places I know that I can guarantee a good meal.

If any of these are stinkers then do let me know. Also if any of these picks require an far in advance reservation then I'd appreciate the heads up on that as well.

Capital Grille at Time Warner Centre

Its the no1 New York restaurant on Tripadvisor!

I know Tripadvisor review's can be a bit bizarre, but how does this steak house compare with the other big name steakhouses in New York?

Are there any decent steakhouses which cost a fair bit less than the likes of Lugers/Keens etc

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll note down Les Halles and Landmarc

We actually have a Le Relais de Venise in London, I think the original is in Paris.

I love good steak but ideally would like to enjoy a meal at a steakhouse without paying the blowout prices at Lugers and similar. Are there any places where the steak is excellent, but prices are a fair bit less.

By all means let me know if the answer is 'no, you have to pay the money to get good steak in NYC'!

Southern BBQ recomendations

Thanks for all the recs - will probably do either Blue Smoke, Dinosaur or Fette Sau. Fette Sau does sound the best although a quick google search seems to suggest massive lines and a no reservation policy, which puts me off a little as I don't fancy waiting around for 90 minutes before eating.

Southern BBQ recomendations

Wow cheers for all the advice and comments guys! If BBQ in New York is terrible then I won't bother but we have pretty much nowhere good for it in the UK, and if there at least a pretty decent place to try some then I am keen to go, especially as I am unlikely to be in the South anytime soon.

I do plan to do a lot of the stuff that NY is more famous for, but will be in NY for a few days, and would be nice to get a good BBQ fix whilst there.

Southern BBQ recomendations

One thing we really don't get in the UK is good Southern US style BBQ, so am quite keen to try some proper stuff on my forthcoming trip to New York. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
