Is there anywhere in Montreal for fresh flour tortillas

There is a company called Mejicano in the Anjou area.

The 10 inch flour tortillas contain the following ingredients:
Enriched white flour, water, canola oil, salt, baking powder, potassium sorbate, sodium propionate, monoglycerides, sodium stearil-2-lactylate, fumaric acid, maltodextrine, cellulose gum, carraghenine, l-cysteine chlorohydrate.

It looks like a 'local' industrial-scale operation. They sell them at Bonanza and Mayrand among other grocery stores. Not fresh and simple though. The search continues

Is there anywhere in Montreal for fresh flour tortillas

The only flour tortillas I saw at Boucherie Mundial are from the brand La Banderita - A national American brand made in various locations around the US. They also sell them at Maya and Sabor Latino.

According to an online discussion based out of Chicago - multiple people wrote that they do not taste as good as the locally made brands.

What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE?

We never made it to LA!
we travelled South from SF as far as Morros Bay. Went surfing for the first time, cooked up a chicken in a skillet on the fire just off the beach.. the next day we headed east towards Williams Arizona, with a late night stop at In-N-Out. We had a lot of fun reading about the secret menu there.

What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE?

Road trip in from Montreal. First time. Narrowed it down to:
Philippe - I like the history and "institution" aspect
Umami or Father's Office - No idea how I am going to decide between the two
Ricky's Fish Taco - probably over hyped, but I am very tempted
Pink's - again i like the history, but might be a fool for going to this one
Pang - decided this over Roscoe based on the Pulp Fiction nod
Dino or Zankou - can't decide

I am considering Langer, as an aside, I encourage their biggest fans to come to Schwartz's in Montreal for smoked meat.

I hear the Korean and Thai foods are fantastic in LA

Will any of these selections be "omg that was amazing" ? We shall see. I will report back after the visit. Chowhound has been a fantastic resource!

Earl Grey Martini

I made it. And.. I think the earl grey tea I purchased was too 'intense'. It was very floral, not like a twinnings or something 'standard'. If there is a next time I will go for something more 'standard'. Not crazy about this drink.

Fat Washing

Hey CanThinkOfName here's my experience, hopefully it will help:
1. I found that the smokiest part of the bacon was the outside. The way I purchased the bacon it was a whole piece of meat, which the butcher sliced for me. So the bacon was most directly touched with smoke on the outsides. I live in Montreal (no bentons here) So I don't know if benton slices pieces, then smokes the pieces. or like the stuff i got smokes the whole thing then slices.
so, give your bacon a taste before you cook it, see which part if smokiest, maybe it is the outside.
2. when i cooked one piece, normally, the fat it gave off was not smokey. so i sliced off the outside(the part i found to be smokiest) of each piece of bacon I bought and cooked those parts. the fat was much more smokey.

hope this helps. just taste, and smell. And again, this method of 1 ounce fat per 750mL bottle whiskey, room temp 4 hours, is not meant to make an intense intense bacon flavour, just to give the whiskey a smokey/bacon-ish flavour.
Eating it, before cooking it ,I noticed the skin on the outside definitely had the smokiest

Fat Washing

I fat washed bourbon with bacon grease with the intention of making a benton's old fashioned.
I put it in the freezer overnight for the fat to solidify.
Now I have used a cheesecloth to strain the whiskey twice, but still notice little white flecks floating around. Should the whiskey ideally be completely free of such remnants, fine particles, "sediment"?

Artisanal Bacon in Montreal

Tried the 'double smoked' bacon sold at Boucherie de Tours in Atwater Market. The bacon is first smoked with maple, and then with applewood at Boucherie Viau in Hemmingford QC. The thin outside layer of the bacon has the very smoked flavour I was looking for. The inside of the bacon does not have as intense of a smoked flavour. It also was not as salty as I would have liked.
So, my search for smoky bacon continues...

Earl Grey Martini

Tanqueray is the recommended for it's 'high proof' and flavor. Also it is a london dry gin as opposed to a sweet gin? Why use a gin with high proof and london dry?
