Groupon has an offer to dine for two for $55.00--3 course meal at Tappo restaurant in the Distillery district. Anyone been there recently? |
Thank you--just can't be too 'funky' as my 83 yr old mom is paying and she's doesn't 'get' the 'new style' ambiance sometimes - dislikes the place before even eating. |

Mom wants to take us out for dinner to celebrate my b-day on a Sunday. Some restaurants aren't open and others are part of Winterlicious, so busy. As well, the noise factor can be a problem. Price is not a problem. Thanks. |

Burlington Ontario restaurants We're looking to meet another couple for dinner in the next two weeks around the Burlington area since we are driving in from West Toronto and they are coming from St.Catharines. We would refer not to pay more than $125 per couple. |

Yes, I ended up reserving there for dinner as it was getting pretty full, so I didn't want to chance it, partly because of the weather as well. The meals are ok, not great. The entertainment is usually wonderful however. |

Thanks..I've been to Barque's in the summer and enjoyed it. Haven't been to Fat Cat's in ages, so I may try Defina. Hugh's Room is close enough I hope as it's a chilly walk these days. |

Thinking of Hugh's Room for some live music after 8:30 Fri nite--wondering where to eat dinner nearby first? Two woman. |

I can't believe that Sama Sebo is still in existence! I was there 35 years ago when it was recommended by Gourmet magazine. It was excellent back then-Ha! |
Thanks for your detailed recollection--I can hardly wait to go! |
Thanks for the thumbs up. Sama Sebo was the excellent restaurant I visited in Amsterdam. About 25 years ago there was a restaurant in Toronto called Riijstaffel. I never did get there and it closed. Not sure why it's never caught on here? |
Probably your best bet is to phone Quince directly and tell them you're lactose intolerant and see what they say. |
If you've ever been to Amsterdam and had this Indonesian type of dinner, you might want to book this event at Quince on Jan. 18th 2012--two sittings. Books up fast as last time I was too late. |

Looking for a chocolatier (Downtown T.O./Etobicoke) At Morroco chocolates in Yorkville, they have almonds covered in chocolate but they look exactly like olives in a lovely clear jar. They also have many wonderful regular chocolates. |

Looking for a chocolatier (Downtown T.O./Etobicoke) You're probably thinking of Callebrut chocolates at the Dundas/Royal York area mall where the Brunos is located. |

I was at Keriwa during the week and it wasn't very busy but our dinners took far too long. The waitress was informed and attentive but the food took too long to come to the table. The menu is not extensive so I don't really understand what the problem could have been. We ordered bison and pheasant, which were both delicious when they arrived. As well the smokey scent permeated our clothes and lingered for more than a day. I had to hang my clothes and aerate them. The waitress brought us a complimentary gazpacho soup and sent us home with a 'goodie bag' which turned out to be cinnamon buns i suspect as a consolation. Instead of all these extras, it would have been better to have the meal delivered on time. How would they manage with a full house? |

What's your favorite comfort soup of all time? My late Polish mother-in-law used to make a cucumber soup--hot or cold, it was delicious! I would love to know how to make it but I will try Bread & Roses sometime.( hers had dill pickle in it as well) Thanks |

Thursday night dinner for Foodie's b-day in T.O. Thanks we've been to Starfish and really enjoyed it. I think you've given us some really good suggestions here! I took her to Grano's in the Spring for a big celebration they were having and she loved it--so maybe we should try Massimo's place--Mistura. ----- |
