Best meal I ever ate:
Dinner at Waterford Castle in Ireland, but a killer second at local Pok Pok with the boar collar
My current drink of choice:
Water. It's hot and I'm broke. But, I'm fantasizing about a beautiful aged Islay at this point....
I really wish I could:
Go to the Ballymaloe Cookery School and just forget about the rest of life for that period of time.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Too obsessed with trying new stuff. I experiment on guests, and have so far been lucky. Although, I've been called upon to do my double-garlic mash potatoes and I've brought my holiday brie bake out more times than I can count..
My favorite comfort food:
Anything creamy. Right now I like to peruse the "cheese bits" at the local natural store. It's the last of the wheel or block that usually has like a tenth of a pound or something... and it makes me happy. Evil comfort food would be KFC popcorn chicken over macaroni salad drizzled with honey *shudder*. That kind of also slaps me back into reality because I do know I like good food.
My most tattered cookbooks:
Dione Lucas Book of French Cooking, Alton Brown's baking book, Complete Book of Pastry by Bernard Clayton. I've moved so much I lost most my books and am a broke student and since I love cookbooks like novels, I tend to get them from the library. Would love an "old" edition of the Joy of Cooking...actually learned a lot from that as a kid and just was not as happy with the updated versions. Used to like the Great Chefs PBS series because I just learned so much about technique and flavor profiles from seeing chefs from all the shows just doing what they do.bunch out of that mainly by watching the series I learned technique, so I got Great Chefs of the West and Made tons of stuff from it. Old Saveur mags were always tattered.
