Breville One Touch Tea Maker

Geezer Gourmet! Thank you! You have confirmed what I have been thinking. Like so many of our kitchen "must haves"- this tea maker is in fact performing a task most of us (hopefully) can obviously do on our own but the way in which it does it produces a superior result...you explained it perfectly.....it does something you can do, only it does it better.

Defrosting meat

Thank you all for great advice as always and for easing my guilt and worry over not always defrosting meat in the fridge!

Defrosting meat

Do you always defrost meat in refrigerator as opposed to leaving it out on counter or in sink of ice water? Defrosting the correct way requires such advance planning if using meat from freezer!

Colanders vs. strainers

Thank you all for the great information and ideas on the use of colanders vs. strainers! I learned a lot from all of you on what to use when and what is truly needed in the kitchen!

Colanders vs. strainers

Although I have a nice set of fine mesh colanders, I'm wondering if I need the All Clad 3 piece strainer set. In what instances does a strainer do a better job than a colander?

All clad slow cooker and Cuisinart multi cooker [moved from San Francisco Bay Area board]

Of course that makes sense...I don't know why I always assume "all clad" products are superior...the price tag perhaps?

All clad slow cooker and Cuisinart multi cooker [moved from San Francisco Bay Area board]

I guess I just always assume the All Clad version of most anything is better~ but that's not necessarily true correct? The Cuisinart multi cooker does tend to slow cook "fast" much faster than my traditional Cuisinart slow cooker so I've tended to use the multi cooker more to brown, pretty much cook through, and simmer as opposed to slowly cooking food over a longer period of time.

I own the Cuisinart multi cooker, do I also need the All Clad slow cooker?

BREVILLE COUNTER TOP SMART TOASTER/CONVECTION OVEN

I've had it for over 1 year and LOVE it~ customer service is superb too- its our toaster every morning and I have baked quick breads, roasted vegetables, and broiled items in it too- love it!

All clad pressure cooker

Yes, the electric one~ I am concerned about this being a new area for All Clad too- I just can't take the Cuisinart anymore-it makes me crazy every time I attempt to use it...plus the All Clad is beautiful and has a stainless steel insert instead of non-stick

All clad pressure cooker

The lid on the Cuisinart is very difficult to put on correctly so that pressure can build up- this is my 2nd one- the first I returned because I was sure it must be defective since the lid was impossible to put on- the coating of the inner pot is a thin non-stick coating that chips off easily and I accelerated this chipping due to my numerous attempts to get that lid on just right~ I guess I'm thinking that inde All Clad does such a great job with their cookware, their's will be a superior pc- I did have an employee show me the all clad pc and how the lid goes on and it's much easier-no perfect alignment needed- I'm hopeful

Next Le Creuset purchase

Should I buy a 2nd shallow wide 6 3/4 French oven in Dijon which was my original dream but had to settle for cobalt or purchase the deep saute pan which I don't have at all? I'm trying to purchase at outlet or good Amazon sale - which is why I ended up with the cobalt French oven not the Dijon I had really wanted.

How do you clean a pizza stone?

Question: I bought the rectangular baking stone from King Arthur to bake no-knead bread since then the baking has subsided to nearly none but have left the stone in and now it does have splotches, drips, brown spots, etc. With all this discussion about the stone absorbing everything will my future breads take on flavor of all the food spills baked onto stone? Does one need a bread baking stone AND a pizza stone?

Morgan Hill Updates?

Another recent addition to the dining scene is Odeum Mediterranean restaurant. It opened a few weeks ago in the Mangia La Pizza location. Same great setting of course- excellent food with an emphasis on Greek offerings- very good wine list with some local offerings as well- recommended!
