Casual Dinner with Business Associates (16 people)

I am in town next week with a group people on a business trip. We are looking for a place for the 16 of us to dine together on Tuesday (9/9) or Wednesday night. We are staying at the Sheraton (500 Canal). I am looking for something walkable with local flare, casual, and can accommodate a party of this size. We do not need to sit together.

Long - Maybe Annoyingly So - Report On Our Recent Trip

Thanks for reviewing Bavette and Boeuf. It doesn't get a lot of mention here and I think it is top notch. I ate there last night. The seafood platters are an event - and delicious. The steaks looked great too. Service was on point (thanks Johnny). I think it belongs in that second tier of great restaurants (below Alinea).

The Purple Pig is nearby. I had a fantastic experience there this week. It is well worth the wait. I suggest you let the server select the dishes, which you will share. It is very casual, with a hip vibe. Great beer and wine election. Probably the best meal I have had in over a year.

Tonight in jeans near the river and mich ave

We went to the Purple Pig. It was amazing. We turned over the selections to our server, Jill. Each dish was spot on.

I am near the Aon building wearing jeans and a t shirt. What is special within walking distance?

Special Event Dinner

My family is coming to Chicago next week to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. We are all foodies, even my two girls have pretty sophisticated palates. I am looking for a real experience dinner.

I am looking for a combination of great food and a real wow experience. I plan to see if the Chef's table is available at Charlie Trotter's. I am not budget conscious. I would prefer something with a hip vibe over something that is traditional and stuffy.

We are staying at The James on Michigan Ave, but we are willing to cab it for a great experience.

Thanks for all of the advice on the board, it is a great community.
