Here's what we liked in Florence, please help us for Rome!

For Gelato - I can endorse theses places
Vice Corso, Vittorio Emanuele II 96;
Carapina, Via dei Chiavari;
Alberto Pica, Via del Seggiola 12
Grom is also good - I am addicted to the Silicana Cassatta flavour.

Christmas in Rome?

Katie Parla and Tavole Romane both have blog posts about this. Tavole Romane is in Italian but it is easy to get the restuarant names even if you do not speak/read Italian

Looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate B-Day with boyfriend and parents ByWard / Sandy Hill

What's your price point? Any specific type of cuisine? When you say trendy, what do you mean? Loud and more about the appearance than the food or a chef cooking great interesting food?

Indian food in Ottawa

Aahar on Churchill/corner of Carling
Mia - (newly opened) on Wellington/corner of Woodroffee - I've not been but it's gotten some good reviews (but with some growing pains)
Coconut Lagoon - St. Laurent Blvd - South Indian - very good.

[Ottawa] I need a Saturday night restaurant

Another vote for PLAY. If they are wanting to eat in the Market, there is also Murray St Restarurant, Navarra and Side Door. I am not a fan of the Metropolitan. For Crossiants, if they are williing to head a bit west, the crossiants at Art-is-in Bakery are fabulous.

West of downtown in Wellington Village there is Tennesy Willems, Asbinthe, Canvas, Petit Bills and Wellington Gastropub.
