Dinner rec for tomorrow 4/21 in Cambridge/Somerville/Arlington?

Any thoughts on Posto in Davis Square? They have a Caesar on the menu right now.

You've all been so helpful in reminding me about about the better choices and informing me about some new options. I might let the Caesar salad wait for next time, in favor of the right ambience and food. I'll let you know where we end up and how it was. Thanks!

La Victoria Taqueria - Arlington, MA

We go there almost once a week, either for takeout or to eat in. Friendly staff but they do always seem a bit overwhelmed with the traffic. The worst was the evening I went to pick up and there was a cluster of people in lederhosen eating before The Sound of Music singalong at the Capitol Theater.

Besides being very convenient for us, my husband likes their tortas better than the ones at Tenoch. His particular favorite is the choriqueso. I like my guacamole with chunks of tomato and onion, so that works for me. On a side note, it seems to have been the final straw for the Arlington Zocalo, which closed recently.

Haven't had much chance to go out in the last couple of years unless it's been to a place with a kid's menu. Now looking for a recommendation for an anniversary dinner tomorrow evening. Top features we'd appreciate: quieter for my husband's taste and a classic Caesar salad for my recent hankering.

Before the kid, we enjoyed places like Bergamot and Strip T's for meals like this. Creative food and decent service with an unfussy atmosphere is how I think of it. Last year we did Bronwyn and had a good time. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Strawberry Shortcake at a restaurant?

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions, especially BostonZest re: the Strawberry Festival restaurants.

I do think of the biscuit version as the classic, and it's my preferred style. The discussion sent me to brief web research into the history of the dessert.

One of the earliest published recipes (1847) for the biscuit version instructs bakers to use a "brisk oven", a charming turn of phrase. http://www.kitchenproject.com/history...

Strawberry Shortcake at a restaurant?

I know I could make it myself, but shortness of time/heatwave/laziness prevent me from making fresh strawberry shortcake this week...

Any recommendations for classic or close-to-classic strawberry shortcake in a restaurant? I work in Cambridge and live in Arlington so usually eat out in that neck of the woods on weeknights.

Thanks!

Orange Roughy on a restaurant menu?

I know they're getting scarce, but a friend would like to track down a restaurant still serving orange roughy in the Boston area. Thanks!
