Need a good bar near the Greater Richmond Conv. Cntr.

Pasture would be my pick - close and the food is excellent.

Signs of a NOT Authentic Chinese Restaurant

We have a Peter Chang restaurant here, and his food is as authentic chinese as it comes. Even at Peter Chang's, they offer General Tsao's because people want it. If you want authentic, though, his restaurants are the place to eat. And the food is great.

Salon.com:'12 absolutely delicious apples you’ve probably never tasted'

If you see 'Black Twig' apples at your market - try them. My hands down favorite apple ever.

Far-away Chains on your "To Do" List

Dick's Last Resort makes Appleby's look like gourmet food. Don't waste your time or your money.

I like a Jimmy John's sandwich once in awhile - I like the wheat bread.

Are You Still Licking the Spoon and Egg Beaters

Pudding off of a wooden spoon is one of my favorites, still. Brownie batter is delicious off of a spoon. I like to dip bread in my red sauce, rather than tasting it off of a spoon. I dip Frito's Scoops into Chili, for sampling, too.

I have the exact same allergy, for fresh pineapple.

Picky eaters are the bane of my existence...and now I live with them

She's 15 and she won't starve. I wouldn't waste a lot of time on it. I'd let it go. She can eat what you prepare, or not.

Cook-Out restaurant?

Blenheim's ginger ale is the best!!

eggplant?

I bread mine, bake in the oven, then freeze in ziplock bags. When I want to eat them, I take them out of the freezer and assemble with sauce and cheese, etc, and bake them frozen.

Best of Top Chef

My GF calls Michael V 'the dirty Voltaggio'.

Cook-Out restaurant?

Really poor quality junk food. Having said that, my college aged kids eat there a lot. They get really excited by the 'sides' you can order, like a corn dog or chicken nuggets instead of the usual fries.

The Most Fabulous Candy Bar Ever

I'm going to try these at home. That good Ghiradelli white chocolate I use to make peppermint bark would be good in this.

Richmond Farmer's Market

Nope - it's a bust. Sorry to be just seeing this now. I could have pointed you to a decent small market. Best markets are on Saturday, though.

Will Raw Milk Make You Sick?

Our family switched to raw milk about 4 years ago. What I had assumed was a dairy intolerance disappeared completely after we made the switch. I've never had any illness from it. It's a personal decision, and I wish the FDA would get out of it. As long as it's labeled as such, it should be a buyer beware option, not a forbidden food. There are way too many benefits to raw milk. We have fewer environmental allergies, and my indigestion has been reduced and almost eliminated. I was skeptical at first, but now I am a believer.

Your best CRISPY, CRUNCHY cookie recipe. Go!

Milk Bar cookies - any of them - Christine Tosi recipes - they are delicious and crunchy. We love the Compost Cookies, the Chocolate Chip/ Marshmallow, and the Birthday Cake cookies all meet your criteria.

Quick help please with corn for a crowd

I'm with you. Also, I break the cobs in half - there's always so much food, no one wants a whole ear of corn on their plate.

how to prevent a lemon from going bitter when stored for later use?

I always wrap mine leftover lemon/lime in plastic wrap and stick in the fridge. Seems ok to me.

The perfect way to cook jasmine rice

The measure with the finger thing is how I learned in chef school - that basic ratio. Works like a champ.

How do I collect taxes in my food truck?

I don't know if you need an accountant or lawyer, but you do need to speak to someone in your state to get your tax id number. They will explain to you how to calculate your taxes. I have a VA tax id, and I have a worksheet that is provided to calculate what I owe in state taxes, and I submit the form and and payment to the state quarterly.

Review - "Broad Appetit" Open air festival featuring over 100 of Richmond Va's best Restaurants in 4 city blocks

It was a great event. I am very impressed with your review. We loved the pork shank from The Savory Grain. I was sorry pizza tonight didn't reprise the nutella panna cotta from last year. It was yummy!
