Sad to report that Cuba Linda has closed. Seems sad and amazing that MCD a block away can thrive while a lovely place like CL cannot make it despite friendly service, very good food and very reasonable prices. CL, if you are reading this, you will be missed.
I began working in Concord 2 years ago and have CH folks to thank for helping me find several great places in the area. So I want to let you know about a place that opened a few months ago in downtown Concord called Cabalinda Cafe. I believe you will find it worth a try. http://cubalindacafe.com/ It is light and airy and the folks who work there have the enthusiasm that comes with one's own cafe. They are polite and positive. I have tried their sandwichesincluding 'pan con bistek' and 'sandwich Cubano' (pork) which are heavenly. But the most amazing thing to me is that they sell home made croquetas and Papa Rellenas that are just exquisite. How much does it cost to get something this exquisite I hear you ask? One dollar each. How can they sell them at that price I have no idea but please try them if you go. The first time i went there, they had just opened and were very apologetic because their rice was not ready to serve with my delicious Ropa Vieja, so they gave me a couple of croquetas and Papa Rellena to hold me over along with a wonderful mango ice tea - free. That was it. Now I return often. I think you will too if you give this place a try.
