Bagels and lox on the Upper West Side: Zabars, Absolute Bagel, and Barney Greengrass Thank god you're around to always google for the rest of us |
Best place to buy beer in bulk in Manhattan Flair has the best prices in Manhattan and they sometimes get some good obscure stuff. |
Agree on the barbacoa tacos. I end up at the ballfields 3-4 times a summer and get those tacos everytime. |

What's the best Greek restaurant? Why google? You seem to consistently chime in with the answer |
"extreme" body art and fine dining But being unattractive does interfere with people doing their jobs if they work in certain professions. Most bars hire attractive people, men and women and I am sure it drives business. |

Best Greek bakery for takeout pastries / dessert Artopolis is much better than Artopolis. Artopolis is the best Greek bakery in the city. Their Galaktoboureko is also the best I have found outside Greece. They also have a number of different baklavas with different fillings. Easter is coming up, so they should have my favorite childhood cookie Koulourakia. The kourabiethes are good, just not as good as my grandmothers. All their stuff is good really. |

Shake Shack a top restaurant?!? The Smoke Shack is a burger at Shake Shack. It has smokey bacon and a pickled pepper relish like you would find in the balkans. It is better than the normal shack burger. http://newyork.grubstreet.com/2012/04... I was never a big fan until I found out you can order it rare. |

Best Current Chinatown Banquet Place Was it warm and welcoming? Well I wouldn't say thats the vibe here, it is more about the food. The waiters were perfectly competant and the decor leaves something to be desired but it was a good experience and a good meal. It worked well for a group of college friends. Also they let you bring in wine which is nice. I suppose wine and old friends improve any atmosphere. |

Best Current Chinatown Banquet Place Ended up at Fuleen and it was very good as usual. Had Snails in black bean sauce--Nicely done, I like the black bean sauce with the snails. Lobster x/o--I like their version best in Chinatown, this was excellent as usual Steamed black bass w ginger and scallion--Very fresh tasting fish, a nice contrast to the other dishes. Peking pork chops--A guilty pleasure of mine. Pea Shoots w garlic--solid Dungeness Crab Harbor Style--First time I tried it this way, very flavorful but did not overwhelm the frest sweet crab, Some braised chicken dish which was kind of a dud. Good meal, everyone was pleased. |

Best Current Chinatown Banquet Place I have a bunch of friends in town and am looking for the current champ when it comes to Chinatown banquet style places. I have enjoyed OG and Fuleen in the past but have not been in probably over a year. Looking for fresh seafood especially. Thanks |

I haven't seen it in bottles but the Pony Bar on the UES had it on tap. Meh. |

Orange beets from French Market Farm in Sebastopol I usually roast and remove the roots. The only time I boil is when I make borscht. The greens are pretty versatile and can be used in the same way as swiss chard. They're very nutritious. I believe that beets and swiss chard are actually the same plant. Beets grown for the bulb and chard for the leaves. |

Orange beets from French Market Farm in Sebastopol You would cook these the same way you would regular beets. Those tops look really nice too, good in an omelette or sauteed with a bit of garlic |

Have you tried Yuji? Someone emailed me the serious eatsarticle and it sounded interesting |
I don't eat dessert so I didn't look. If not there are plenty of options nearby |
The spare ribs were excellent. Havent had the beef rib yet but I usually prefer pig to cow anyway. The pulled pork and the beans were really good too. Hopefully they won't be too crowded after the NYT article |

It is a lot longer than 8 minutes away. The subway ride itself is another 12-15 minutes past the stadium and then you are going to have to walk another 15-20 minutes. If you have a lot of time then sure go explore Arthur Ave but if you have a baseball game and a flight later in the day it does not seem worth it I frequently shop on Arthur Avenue (I have a car) but I don't think it makes sense this trip. |
Arthur Ave is not close to Yankee Stadium especially via public transportation. It's definitely an interesting area that I would recommend eating some nearby Jamaican at Feeding Tree mentioned upthread. |
I usually eat at the Feeding Tree before the game for good down home Jamaican. The Ox tail and the curried goat are good there. It is about a block away from the stadium on a side street. I don't think you'll get much Jamaican elsewhere. |

I had Might Quinn last week. I thought the pulled pork and pork ribs were very good. Good beer selection too NYC actually has a few good BBQ places. Fette Sau is almost always on point. I have traveled fairly extensively throughout the south and while those places arent the absolute best they do compare favorably. |

Top Chef Seattle - Ep. #17 - Finale Part 2 - 02/27/13 (Spoilers) I didn't think it was snotty at all, it sounded more like a friend busting someone's balls. |

My guess is that those that use rezzie or res for reservation or rec or recco for recommendation simply cannot spell those words. |

Horsemeat found in prepared burgers in UK & Ireland Supermarket supply chain Or the US would be more civilized like Canada |

First trip to NYC with kids in June need recs This is a good rec. The kids will love Doyers Street, its one of my favorites in the city. Make sure you read up on the "Bloody Angle" beforehand. http://www.scoutingny.com/?p=1757 Lost of history here. Also while the dim sum might not be as good, going to one of the larger Dim Sum houses like Jin Fong might be a good experience for them. The place is huge and chaotic but in a good way. |

Katz's serves S&S Cheesecake if I am recall correctly. |
La Vie En Szechuan Brief Report Their cumin mutton is a very good rendition. |

Boulder makes a beer called Hazed and Infused. It is not technically an IPA but provides a nice hop kick in my opinion |
David Chang's Bo SSam recipe: anyone make it yet? I made it for the super bowl once as well. Follow the directions to a tee. I tasted a piece while cooking and was worried it would be too salty but it turned out great. Make those sauces too, the ginger scallion one is especially good. |

Top Chef's Cite Manhattan: excerpt in FT of 'Where Chefs Eat'; Lyndon B's Biographer Dines at Patsys Yeah salt baked means fried. I actually like all of the salt baked items at Noodletown, don't find them any more greasy than a fried item should be. |

If this guy isn't making artisinal food, I don't know who is. |
