Restaurants in Newport KY/Cincy Area for less than $20 a person?

Thank you so much! I've been to the aquarium before, but am super excited about taking my kiddo.

I'm a big foodie and I get SO frustrated with chain restaurants. To me you hardly ever get what you deserve for what you pay. Thank you SO much for your recommendations! I will DEFINITELY be checking one (or more) of these out!

My mom, 19-month-old daughter and I are going to be making a trip to the Northern KY airport later this month to drop off some friends, then will spend the night and hit the aquarium the next day. I love trying local restaurants and would love some suggestions! Our favorite types or restaurants are Italian, TexMex, Southern and Asian cuisines. We're not huge on BBQ or Mexican.

Thanks in advance! So glad I found this site!

Smokey Valley Truck Stop

Smokey Valley is very difficult to find if you don't know it's there. I don't think that I would specifically make a special trip to eat there, but if I were on the road I'd be sure to stop.

I was a student at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson and Smokey's (as we called it) was a very popular spot for college students. I never had dessert there. We all went for the Smokey Burger.

A lot of it is the fact that we were getting off campus, and not so much the food... but the fact that sometimes we'd be cutting it close on curfew.

The Smokey Burger is a double patty burger. Nothing all that special at all about it. It was usually pretty dry.

The onion rings there are AMAZING. I used to make my husband stop there weekly when I was pregnant just to get them.

A friend of mine says that the lady they showed cooking on Triple D is not really a cook there at all... and that the recipe that they give on there isn't true to the food. I don't know if its true, but she knew several of the cooks at Smokey's and they were kind of frustrated with the show.

VERY smokey atmosphere. You can watch them prepare your food. Very small dining area. Not the best atmosphere... definitely a dive... but decent food if you're passing through!

Best Restaurant in the State of Kentucky....

Cliff Hagans has since burned down.

El Azul has since went from an excellent Mexican restaurant to barely sub-par. It used to be one of my favorite places to eat, now its medicore to bad.

No good eats around here. Lexington is an hour and a half drive and the only non-fast food we have!

There is a restaurant in Whitesburg called Pine Mountain Grill that is immensely popular. I haven't eaten there in years, but the parking lot is always packed.

Lexington reviews

I'm a KY native and have never eaten at any of these! ha! My sister lives in Lexington and absolutely loves Ramsays. Definitely a must try for me soon. She also really likes Billy's BBQ.
