Butter versus Shortening

Thanks Awwshucks, for this recipe. I do much better with Crisco than butter, but was looking for a recipe that incorporates both. Will be giving this a try for Thanksgiving. Will let you know. Thanks again.

Triple Malt Chocolate Cake

I made this with Carnation Malted Milk Powder and added a little more and did not get a real malt taste. I have to say that the recipe is perfect for a chocolate cake. I made cupcakes and they were delicious. I did get the malt flavor after adding the Vanilla Malt Frosting. I wasn't crazy about the frosting. I think there was way to much butter. The cake is a keeper and next time I will use my butter frosting and add malt to that.

Vanilla Malt Frosting

Not crazy about this frosting. The flavor was great, but the consistency was to slick (I even used 2 sticks of butter). At first it was very grainy from the malt so I let it set in the frig. for about 15 mins. and then it came together. Next time I will use my regular frosting recipe and just add malt.

The dream has died

Sorry, Just Plain Craig. My mom used to make a "Watsonville Applesauce cake" when we were kids. She passed away three years ago and I was wanting that recipe. I looked everywhere for it and finally posed a request on a blog. Sure enough, someone had the recipe and it tasted exactly like the one when I was a child. I wish you luck in finding your dream!

Chocolate Pudding Pops

I am going to try to health these up a bit. I just joined weight watchers and need to keep in check. I will let you know how these come out.
