Thai Aroma - Blue Bell

Driving on Skippack near Butler and saw a sign for Thai Aroma in the place where the Everest Grill used to be. Anyone have any information on it?

Vegetarian and Vegan Cookbooks

I would love some suggestions for vegan baking cookbooks that don't use a lot of specialty ingredients. I'm not vegan, but I would like to bake for someone who is without spending a fortune on a bunch of ingredients I have no other use for. I've made some recipes from Post Punk Kitchen with varying results, some good, some bad.

Passover desserts question

Smitten Kitchen has a lot of suggestions here: http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/04/17-passover-dessert-ideas/

Last year I made the Payard chocolate-walnut cookies and even people who don't like walnuts LOVED them. They were really good. I always make a pavlova and matzo crunch too.

Casual Sunday Dinner near Lantern Theater

I'm not too familiar with the downtown area, so need some help picking out a restaurant. Some old friends getting together, along with a couple of our daughters, so probably 6 people, looking for someplace comfortable, where we can talk, and good food, but not too pricey. It would be great if it's in the area around the Lantern Theater (923 Ludlow Street), as that's where a few of the people will be coming from. The rest of us are driving in from the suburbs. I don't think any type of cuisine is off limits.

This is for next Sunday dinner, probably fairly early, around 5:30 or 6.

Top Chef - Texas - Last Chance Kitchen (spoilers)

But Nyesha lost because her food was underseasoned, not because she had bad ingredients. I don't think we can blame Beverly for not giving her enough to work with when she might have won if her dish had been seasoned.

I Hate Organic Natural Peanut Butter

I'm a Simply Jiff fan myself, but don't throw away the natural PB. You can use it in cooking! I use it for a thai chicken wing recipe that's a favorite.

The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs (Episode 6 "Food Auction") [Spoilers]

Wow, I don't know if I'm just too old or what, but that blog was pretty much unreadable to me.

Thanksgiving Sweet Potatoes That Can Be Made the Day Before?

This is the recipe I make every year, by popular demand. I usually make it the weekend before Thanksgiving and freeze it until Thanksgiving day, defrost it and reheat. Simple and delicious.

The CHEW

If anyone is Rubenesque on this show, it is Mario Batalli, yet not one mention about his weight. Why do we always feel like it's okay to criticize the woman's body?

Conshohocken’s 401 Diner

I just read on Philly.com that they're closing down temporarily.

In a statement, Tom Richter, Peter Richter, and chef Michael Cappon, the crew at Conshohocken's Isabella, wrote: "The kitchen was not able to produce the food at the high level of quality that the owners demand. They are restaffing, retraining and will reopen with a product that will meet the standards their customers expect."

Vegan friendly in Ambler/Blue Bell?

My son and his fiance are stopping here on the way from Boston to Maryland for dinner on Sunday, and I'm looking for someplace that would have a couple of vegan friendly options, but close to home (Blue Bell) since they're already going to be in the car for a long time on that day. Anyone have any ideas?

Karma in Rockville (Rio)

Unfortunately Spice Xing cannot accommodate our group.

Desperately Seeking Tunisian Harissa in a Tube!!

It's not in a tube, and not Tunisian, but Whole Foods does sell harissa by Cava. It's with the fresh dips. Cava is a restaurant in Maryland/DC, so I was a bit surprised to see it here in the Whole Foods in Plymouth. I haven't bought the prepared stuff, but I've had it in the restaurant and it's pretty darned tasty.

Karma in Rockville (Rio)

Looking for feedback on this restaurant. I'm looking to schedule a rehearsal dinner and am considering Spice Xing, India Palace and Karma. I've been to Spice Xing and Indian Palace, but not to Karma. I understand they have a couple of private rooms, but I'm most interested in how is the food? I no longer live in the area, so can't just pop over and have dinner there.

Indian Food in Montgomery County

Looking for an Indian restaurant for a rehearsal dinner for probably 25-30 people in Montgomery County. Anyone have any thoughts?

I see that Karma in Rio has a private dining room, and is owned by the same people who own Tandoori Nights in Kentlands, but I'm not finding anything on CH on a search. Has anyone been there?

I love Spice Xing, but I don't think they have a private room. I still may call them and see if they could accommodate our group.

Since I don't live in MD anymore, I'd really appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Good but inexpensive place for a rehearsal dinner

Thank you! The menu for Akbar looks wonderful. I've got a lot of vegans coming, so hopefully they can work with us on that.

Good but inexpensive place for a rehearsal dinner

Just curious where you ended up for your rehearsal dinner. I'm getting ready to start planning one as well for the inner harbor area in late October, and am looking for ideas. I live in Philly area, so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage as far as Baltimore. Considering getting a room in the hotel and having it catered. Any good Indian caterers in Baltimore?

Baltimore Rehersal dinner places

Did you settle on anyplace for your rehearsal dinner? I'm planning a rehearsal dinner in late October for a wedding also in the inner harbor and am looking for ideas. The bride would like Indian food, but as I'm not familiar with Baltimore other than as a tourist (I live in Philly area), don't know if that's do-able. Anyone with ideas? Our group should be considerably smaller than yours at 75, hopefully closer to 40 or less.

Looking for Vegan Donuts

Looking for vegan donuts in either the metro DC or Baltimore area. Son and future daughter-in-law want donuts instead of a wedding cake, and would like to include vegan selections. Anyone know of any standouts? The wedding will be in Baltimore, but DC metro area is okay as well.

Coming soon in Montco: Bellisimo

I'll have to give it a try, but what I really miss are the little cheap ethnic places.

Coming soon in Montco: Bellisimo

I was thinking the exact same thing! I so miss the great food from my old neighborhood in Maryland where I could get good Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, tacos, Greek, Indian, and more all in a short drive of my suburban home. So far here the only place I really like is Saffron in Ambler.

Key Limes

One of the easiest pies to make. You'll do great!

Key Limes

I saw them in Whole Foods at Plymouth Mtg last week, but didn't catch the price.

I have tiny plum-sized eggplants. What to do with them?

Our local Indian restaurant had a special with them in a tikka masala. It was delicious. I think they probably grilled the eggplants.

Na Brasa

I'd be curious if anyone has tried the bar menu. That definitely looks more my speed as I can't eat massive quantities of meat at a sitting.

Passover Recipes Please

These are right up my flavor alley. Do you use sweetened coconut?

New Place in Ambler?

And I googled and found a web page. http://massapizzagrill.com.temp.realssl.com/

Still good after a year?

I just made matzo balls from a mix that I bought on clearance last Pesach, and it tasted just fine to me!

Top Chef All-Stars - Ep. #15 (Finale Pt. 3) - 03/23/11 (Spoilers)

Right, but he's talking about the specific women in the competition, not ALL woman chefs. There is a difference.

Top Chef All-Stars - Ep. #14 (Finale Pt. 2) - 03/16/11 (Spoilers)

Just because he thinks he is a better chef than the other women in the competition does not mean he thinks this way about all female chefs or women in general. He also thinks he's a better chef than most of the men in the competition.
