Tex-Mex gift basket - need some suggestions!
Thanks for the help, y'all. I am off today to do the deed.
Mr. Tramps?
I haven't been, but look forward to checking out anything near Coco's where I can get a passion fruit bubble tea!!!
Tex-Mex gift basket - need some suggestions!
Tx for the reply! I am mailing it, but my pal has provided the postage. This is an "official" challenge, and I'd like it to be fun, but including things she can't get in Fla. I've got a 12x12x6 prepaid priority box to fill.
Tex-Mex gift basket - need some suggestions!
I am packing a gift basket for a friend of ingredients to make a killer tex-mex meal in another state that has no clue. What suggestions do you have for things I should include? Thanks!!!
What has happened to Mambo Berry?? Can't find them!!!
Please, someone tell me where they are? I spent a week in NYC gorging on Pinkberry (mochies, mmmm) and need to find a source here in Austin. I've been to their location at Lamar and Barton Springs, and the trailer is nowhere to be found!
Need to find the best hot dog in town
I agree with the Costco vote, but they only offer relish, catsup and mustard (and onions, I think). No chili, no cheese, good for me but not for DH
Mighty Fine at Arbor Walk has a really great dog, with good chili and whatever else you want. Recommend!
Texas Pie Company
Royer's apple pie is absolutely to die for. Worth a trip to Round Top.
Best cupcakes in town?
I ordered cupcakes to be delivered to my law student son this week from Swirlz. They delivered on time and he was sooo pleased!!!! Loved the vanilla cupcake best with the candied sunflower seeds. The frosting, he said was awesome, and the cake (reduced sugar, even) was tender, very flavorful. I thought he'd like the carrot cake the best, but what do I know, I'm just the MOM!
Chinese Dumplings
We have gone to Marco Polo on Woodward and I35 a couple of times and been really happy! It is reminiscent of the Sunday morning dim sum we would enjoy in Kuala Lumpur in the early 70's.
Curra's out of tamales!! Where to order??
Thanks for the comments! We picked up some tamales from Central Market, and they were quite good. For variety we went to Tamaleo on 71 for the banana leaf wrapped turkey/mole tamales and they were fabulous! They were definitely the menu topper. Happy New Year, y'all!!
Curra's out of tamales!! Where to order??
I just went online to order Christmas tamales, and they are not accepting orders. Big problem! Does anychow have an idea where I can still order for a party? Gracias
Toddy Cold Drip Coffee Maker [Moved from General Topics board]
I've had one for years, and really love it in the summertime! Makes great iced coffee. I never heat the extract -- just add hot water to it.
Looking for the locals favs..the really good stuff
Get Lefty (he works days) to make you a steak and cheese with peppers and sauce. Fabulous. The pizza is ok, it used to be better -- but Lefty has been there since I was in high school in Arlington, and I never go home without lunch at Mario's!
4 days to eat in austin
For breakfast my favorite is Magnolia's on Lake Austin Blvd. Great omelets and an awesome ginger pecan pancake!
Staying the weekend at Marriott Key Bridge, Arlington
Try the Orleans Steak House on Wilson Blvd. It is close, and an old favorite! I don't think you'll be disappointed. Also, you could take the Metro from Rosslyn up two stops , to Clarendon where there are several great places -- Hard Times Cafe for authentic Austin Texas Chili. Walk a block down Clarendon Blvd to Harry's for great drinks, and a good menu. Have a great weekend!
OK, now about that philly cheesesteak???
Upper West side restaurants for first time visit to area
Popover cafe for breakfast??? mmmm
