Four lunches Six Dinners in Paris

I am an American and I had a delightful experience at Chez Dumonet--one of the most delightful evenings of our week in Paris in June of 2011. The chef sat down at our table with us at the end of the evening and we had a lovely conversation with him about the souffle, in our bad French and his bad English. And this I also know -- this site will not steer you wrong, not about food in France. It's the best resource out there for the traveling foodie.

Troisgros or Bras?

So, my partner who posted this inquiry, an excellent cook and lover of all things French, is too shy to ask, but I will, on her behalf: how did you swing stirring the aligote? Doing that would make her summer.

Guided Burgundy Wine Tours

Hi everybody--we are planning a trip through Burgundy in September and were thinking that hooking up with a private or semi-private tour guide might be the most efficient way to bit some wineries and do some tasting. We have both been to Burgundy before and know a little about wine, so we want to avoid a tour targeted at a novice level. I've located some companies that might do what we are looking for via searching the Internet, but din't really know if they are any good, and wonder whether there are some options out there we are missing. Any advice/experience/suggestions? Thanks!

5 days in Brittany--advice on places to eat and stay

Thanks, everyone, for the great ideas. We are working out our itinerary now and thanks to your suggestions are definitely making sure we hit Cancale and Roscoff, places that were on our only on our "maybe" list before. And we will be heading to Paris for a week afterwards, and are mining the board archives for all sorts of great ideas for Paris as well. We are new to Chowhound and are just loving it!!!

5 days in Brittany--advice on places to eat and stay

We're from the Bay area, are nuts about French food and wine, and will be making our first trip to Brittany in May. Will be staying in Dinan, Douarnez and Auray, but have a car and are willing to go the extra mile for a great, non-Michelin starred find. :-). Love oysters, lobster, mussels and other fruits de mer, but we're open to any truly authentic or quintessential Brittany eating experience. We'd love any advice on where to go and what to eat while we are there!
