One night in Paris - Chez L'Ami Jean, Le Fontaine de Mars, Chez Dumonet... What about Allard? Is it any good now or has gone downhill? Also any comments for L'Auberge Bressane? Nobody knows Le Pere Claude? From what i'm reading it is a favourite of Jacques Chirac and many other politicians and French celebrities. |

I have a question%3 Restaurants like Assunta Madre, Santa Lucia, La Pentolaccia, Dal Bolognese, Antica Pesa and Palazzacio are supposed to be some sort of "celebrity" hot spots, some of the websites of these restaurants are full of pictures of celebrities (recent ones) who visited the restaurants and in various internet reviews (Frommer's, Fodor's etc) many of them are described as famous and well known restaurants. Others like Girarrosto Fiorentino and Ambasciata d'Abruzzo mention on their websites that their famous clientelle includes Meryl Streep, Francis Ford Coppola, Mel Gibson, Willem Dafoe. lso most of these places are well reviewed and recommended by websites like Tripadvisor, frommer's, Gambero Rosso etc. Yet all these restaurants are very rarely discussed here, if not at all. What is the reason? Are these not good restaurants? Were they once good restaurants and not now? Is it just to keep the crowds away and keep them more exclusive? (although this can hardly be the case for Dal Bolognese) Can someone please explain? ----- Ambasciata d'Abruzzo |

We are a party of 4 who have been to Italy and Rome a few times before and definitely appreciate good food. As you know many restaurants in Rome are closed in August so we did our research, send emails, received replies and now have a list of restaurant options for August. I would like your recommendations based on your experiences or what you have heard about the following restaurants reputations: Taverna Trilussa Also if you know of any places that will be open in August and you would recommend please let me know. We like good traditional unpretentious food (not fans of fusion and creative cuisine), good service and nice atmosphere without the place being too stuffy. Money not an object. ----- Girarrosto Fiorentino La Gensola L'Asino d'Oro Santa Cristina al Quirinale |

Recommendations for Rome restaurants Many thanks for all the replies. Has anyone ever been to Il Caminetto in Parioli? Is it any good? |

Recommendations for Rome restaurants Mainly restaurants in central rome or not very from the centre. Mainly. restaurants serving traditional Roman cuisine and restaurants serving other types of Italian cuisine. Specific recommendations for good bucatini all'ammatriciana, abbachio alla romana, florentine steak and other dishes are more than welcome. We don't like very modern restaurants with minimalist decorations, we prefer the traditional old-fashioned style. Money is not an issue. |

Recommendations for Rome restaurants We are a group of 4 people planning to visit Rome during the summer and we are looking for good restaurant recommendations. We've been to Rome many times before and we love the food there, this time we want it to be even better. We travel frequently and everywhere we go we research the restaurant options carefully to be able to make the best decisions. We like a restaurant with good food, nice atmosphere and good service, not too formal, not too informal. We don't like the touristy restaurants and we don't like the pretentious places either or the whole " creative touches" cooking trend (unless the food is exceptional). Money is not an issue. I want to have a TOP 5 RESTAURANTS OPTIONS list consisting of: 2 restaurants serving traditional Roman cuisine I would really appreciate any recommendations anyone may have and as I've already started doing my own research i would really appreciate if you could give me opinions and information on the following restaurants: La Campana ----- Trattoria Monti Matricianella Agata e Romeo Checchino dal 1887 Al Ceppo Ditirambo Colline Emiliane Le Mani in Pasta Quinzi & Gabrieli Hostaria Romana Taverna dei Fori Imperiali |
