Where to go for last minute Sunday night food adventure...

We live in studio city. We are on BBQ overload and are running out of places we can think of to go to. Help! Where would you go for a last minute Sunday night food adventure?

Help finding the BEST of the best....

I have been given a challenge and I would love my fellow food enthusiasts input!

What is the best of the best? It can be.....

Any type of food (just the best in it's category)
Any price range ( cheap and cheerful to urber extravagant)
Within the 1 hr range from Studio City (give or weekend light traffic)

There ya go. I look forward to the suggestions!

Many thanks...

Need help..short trip...MUST eat.

I am a former New Yorker. I have not been back in 3 years. I know much has opened and closed in that time.

I am only coming for four days. Open to suggestions. MUST have Dim Sum and a trip up to Barney Greengrass. Other than that we are completely open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Help with Tuesday Happy Hour....

Forgive the broad spectrum request.

We are looking for a fun place to go for Happy Hour Tuesday for a mellow birthday drink. West side, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Santa Monica or Venice are fine by all. Somewhere with great food and good atmosphere. Outside would be ideal in this weather!

Thank you in advance for the suggestions....

Scoops vs. Pazzo Gelato?

Pazzo! I crave the mascarpone gelato there. All in all I am still a loyal Mashti fan.

What's in Studio City?

I have to agree. If you are adverse to the vast variety of sushi that Studio City prides itself on...go over to Sherman Oaks where you'll have a few more choices. They are essentially the same place (divided at Coldwater Canyon).

I second Mistral for the Steak and Pommes Fritte. Good dinner and nice atmosphere. Need reservation.

Also, if you do end up trying Boneyard Bistro, definitely try the pulled pork dumplings in BBQ sauce. They are hands down the best thing on the menu. Last time I was there a few of us decided we'd order one of every meat on the menu and the sausage was everyone's favorite.

ISO Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice

Try the Encino location. The food is the way Studio City used to be. Plus the staff is a bit more courteous and it is all around a nicer dining experience.

Vote for the best Hole-In-The-Wall (Michelin-style)

Underwhelmed?!? Try over whelmed!

I completely agree with your analysis. I too have an insatiable sweet tooth...sugar is a food group as far as I am concerned. But, I was literally overwhelmed at the cupcake large enough to be a main course! The caramel apple was screaming out at me...but the overkill of crumble on top coated in caramel and filled with apple chunks left my belly screaming.

Too bad.

ISO Great fresh Italian sausage in L.A. area

Ya...The Eurpoean Delux Sausage Kitchen on Olympic and Doheny. Old school home made in a large variety of flavor choices. Plus a nice small market with specialty items.

You can't expect too much...I think they are owned by Jerry's Deli. Enough said!

Din Tai Fung. But, you will have to get there and line up before the doors open. They sell out in the first hour. Worth the wait!

Yes, Intelligentsia Was Worth the Wait: Review + Pics

Yes! Thank you for the great review.

I went by there yesterday. The decor is terrific. I love the sprawling counter that everyone was spread out at waiting. I had the Moroccan Mint Tea. It was great and refreshing for the heat. I will have to go back for the Clover Coffee...sounds excellent!

Belwood Bakery Studio City

Went there for morning pastries, and baguette for tonight. As always everything was fresh with seriously cheery service. They have added a rewards program. Thought I would share...

They are now doing a rewards cards. They are giving back 5% towards your future visit! Croissants and cash back...SWEET!

Why are people so passionate about 'Q and their favorite BBQ Joints?

I have to agree with you 100%. Not just because I too am from KC. I do want to add that Jack Fiorella's Jack Stack (AKA The Smoke Stack) is my personal favorite. I will say that there's very little in this world that can compete with a heap of Arthur Bryant's greasy pork piled high on two slices of white bread.

Too bad Arthur Bryant's doesn't ship!

Exciting New Places In Sherman Oaks/Studio City?!

Fourth! I'd say we have a winner as far as votes go.

Had the BBQ pot stickers...yum. We ate a host of apps and ordered a couple of the dinners that sampled several meat options. All were good. Plus it happened to be half off wine night! Meat and can you go wrong! ;)

studio city and on

Don't forget Mistral! Great when you are in the mood to loose the flip flops and have a steak and pomme fritte.

Also, Bamboo Cuisine in Sherman Oaks, pretty good Americanized Chinese food. Four n Twenty for home cooked pies. Katsu ya, after you've had Asanebo sushi.

Grand Cayman with kids

Also, most of the beach/hotel cafe's have things like chicken fingers and regular sandwich's.

Grand Cayman Rec for 20th Anniversary

Congrats! Just got back from Grand Cayman again, I LOVE it there.

The restaurant of the moment is Calypso. You will need a reservation though. It is not to bad of a drive from your hotel, just head North and you will see signs.

Also, you should consider...

Fisherman's Reef (next door to Calypso) It has won the Cayman Islands 2006 Chef Award. They also have a tasting menu or "themed" as they call it.

The Warf (Seven Mile Beach) It is consistently thought of as one of the best restaurant's on the island. Great is OK. Contrary to the other post, we've always had good service there.

Grand Old House (Church St) They have won 19 awards from Wine Spectator Magazine.

Ristorante Pappagallo (West Bay) Slightly more relaxed, but great menu. Food and wine have both received rave reviews. The drive isn't too far.

Enjoy! And be sure to treat yourself with MANY Tortuga Rum Cakes!!!

Bean & Cheese Burritos--Who has the BEST?

Las Feuntas has a really good one. You just have to be willing to drive to Reseda and Vanowen in the valley. They make an AWESOME bean and chicken burrito too.

Genghis Cohen - what to order?

3 words...Pork Panfried Potstickers.

An old flame and I used to order 3 or 4 orders of them (there are 8 in an order) and eat until we had dumpling poising! I highly suggest the activity!!! :)

Best Quesadillas in L.A.!

My personal favorite is Tere's "Chicken Special Quesadilla." I love it despite the fact it is a bit greasy. Get it with chips and guac...and bring your own beer. Crave worthy!

Where do I find the best Croque Monsieur in LA

I second that! The croque monsieur is AWESOME as are the fries.

Have the chocolate mousse in the plastic cup after. Not too fancy...but, yummy all the less.
