Recommendations for a memorable dining experience Try DNA in old mtl |
|

Alas, No Space at Au Pied de Cochon....Now What?! I wouldn't rule out Joe Beef - not sure what the "anglo" verison of APDC means but it's definitely worth a try. Also, I doubt you'd get reservations at Garde Manger this late in the game. It was hard getting reservations before Chuck's boom on the Food Network. Even more impossible now on such short notice. My vote goes to Joe Beef... or DNA. ----- |

Everything closed Friday, June 24? Most businesses & government offices will be closed, but bars and restaurants will be open. No need to worry... the city will be bustling with blue and white flag wavers :) |

Not-to-be-missed restaurants outside of downtown and Old Montreal I'd recommend Tripolis in Parc Extension. It's a small Greek place that's quite nice. It's not fine dinning, but I doubt you'd be disappointed. Parking there is on the if-fy side. There is definitely street parking, but not sure about getting one in site of the resto. ----- |

I have a serious craving for lobster and was thinking of hitting up a restaurant this weekend. I've had the lobster spaghetti at Joe Beef and lobster poutine at Garde Manger. Looking for something more surf and turf-ish. Was thinking of Chez Magnan. Any thoughts or suggestions? ----- |

Wait time at Au Pied Du Cochon on a Friday night? i'd be very surprised if a walk-in gets you a table, with or without a wait. If anything, you might get lucky with a couple of seats at the bar.... but that's even unlikely |

Quick tips for Plateau delivery or local pickup. Not sure how west you are but there's Mamie Clafoutis on St. Denis. It a bakery with los of yummy things, including sandwiches. Also, you can go to a place like Formagerie Hamel and stock up on cheeses and charcutieries and makes yourself a gourmet sandwich. I think there's one on Mont Royal if memory serves me... |

The last few years I been when it was windsor station, the lineup to get in was insane! From what I remember, we wait over an hour just to get it. Seeing as how you went and now that it has moved to bonaventure, are the waits to get in as long? |

Visiting MTL Fathers day weekend Try Brit & Chips for cheap-ish eats. As the name indicates, fish & chips! ----- |

Best and Worst Grocery Store Finds... Aren't they the best?!?!? Saw the little bags at the dep in Central Station! Hopefully no need to stock up every time in go to ON anymore!! |

Best and Worst Grocery Store Finds... I saw a big bag of Cool Ranch Doritos (the blue bag) ONCE at the Provigo an Mt Royal and St Urban. Yummy!!! Sadly they were no longer there the next time I went :( |

I would try Joe Beef. It might be a little out of your price range if you plan to drink more than say a bottle of wine, but well worth it. For old Monteal, try Mechant Boeuf. The ambiance is pretty nice and laid back. There's a live DJ I think on Thurs-Saturday. Casual, try Icehouse. It's sort of a texas style BBQ place. Chicken, ribs, tacos.... It's a small place so you might have to wait for a table depending on the time you go. Try to get there early for drinks and you're more likely to get a table. Around 6ish should be fine. ----- |

Best place for after dinner drinks for a hip couple in their 30's in Old Montreal? l'assomoire on Notre Dame has a pretty good cocktail list. They have another location on Bernard. I know the one on Bernard you can't just drink, you have to buy a ittle something to eat. Something about their liquor license. They usually have little apps to share. I don't think the one on Notre Dame has this restriction.... |

recommendations for st. denis / st. catherine? there's Chu Chai on St.Denis that is a thai vegetarian place. My non meat eating friends tell me it's one of the better veg places in the city. ----- |

forgot to mention DNA... that would be on my tops picks as well |

I doubt you'll regret APDC. Not really full of tourists. Lots of locals. I think it's a sure thing, in my opinion. Also good choice on Garde Manger. I always get the cromesquis as a small pre-starter to my starter. Deep Fried Fois Gras!!! Yumm! Liverpool house is the same owners as Joe Beef, both would be excellent options. On that same note, Joe Beef expanded and took over Mckiernan to open Joe Beef Oyster bar. You might want to check that out. ----- Mckiernan's |

Montreal for the Canada Day long weekend - where would you eat and drink? ok, here goes... Try Ice House on Roy & St. Dominique. Bourbon Lemonade!! Yummy. The food is sort of tex-mex, tacos, chicken and ribs. Not sure if they open for lunch, but they have a patio. Must try - Joe Beef!! Probably my favourite place. There a nice pub across the street, The Burgundy Lion, for drinks before your meal. That's all I got for now! ----- Amelio's |

Montreal Wedding Venues - Sept 2012 I went to a wedding where they rented out the top of the restaurant Newtown. Not sure if they had it catered though. The place was really nice. Great view of the city and if you have a lot of out of town guests, lots of hotel options near by. Good luck! |

I think the one we alway bought was Rabih. It's the one with the green plastic top. My dad used to sell it at our middle eastern grocery store. And now I'm craving it!! |

Dinner in Old Montreal for under $20 per person Not really in the centre of Old Montreal, but give Brit & Chips a try. The name is probably a dead giveaway but it's a fish & chips type place. |

Where's the best burger in Montreal It's a bit out of the way, but Jukebox in the west island (near marche de l'ouest) is pretty damn good. Mechant Boeuf is yummy too. Going there tonight! |

Try Daou. I'm lebanese and this is where my family goes if we want good food (not as good as mom's though!) http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant... |
