Private restaurant space for wedding ceremony & dinner
Thanks for the reponses! Any thoughts on the wine room at Bayona? Hard to tell what it is like from the internet.
Private restaurant space for wedding ceremony & dinner
Dear Chowhound:
I will be getting married next October. We are planning on doing a combined ceremony/dinner in a private room in a restaurant. It will be very small--about 30 people total. The food is by far the most important thing--we are planning on a tasting menu format with wine pairings. But it is also important that the space itself be aesthetically pleasing. Huge windows, nice furniture, fireplaces etc. would be a plus.
I've reviewed the extensive past threads on rehearsal dinners, and they have been very helpful. We were initially planning on Clacasieu, but after seeing additional pictures we are worried the space would not look that great for a wedding (although it looks perfectly nice for a private dinner). We are now thinking about Coquette. I've not eaten there myself, but the vast majority of reviews seem positive and the second floor space looks pretty nice.
I'd appreciate any suggestions. If this was your wedding, where would you be eating?
Thanks!
New recommendations for Shanghai dining
Great list, thanks! Any chance you will have time to produce another one for Beijing?
Where to eat downtown Chattanooga..local style?
St. John's is definitely a good choice. If they still have veal hanger steak on the menu, get that--delicious. I would skip the venison, which I didn't enjoy much at all.

Where's the best BBQ place or other restaurant in South Mississippi, especially south of Jackson?
Louise's Open Pit in Crystal Springs. Very unique sauce. Get a rib combo with pork steak.

Recommendations for Chapel Hill or Durham
Second for Bonne Soiree if in Chapel Hill. Magnolia Grill if in Durham, although Four Square is also a good choice.

Hot dog options in Durham/Chapel Hill?
Paschal's is definitely a cool spot and worth checking out. Plus, you can get a taco for dessert from Taqueria La Esperanza.
You should also check out L&D Grill, which I think is one of the neatest places in Durham. Review at: http://carpedurham.com/2009/02/06/l-d-grill/
Ethnic Food in Jackson MS
It seems like I am on my own here, but I am not very impressed with Guadalupe (and I love taqueria-style tacos). Has anyone tried La Morena on Old Canton? I have been hearing about it a lot recently and Carpe Jackson recently put up a very favorable review ( http://carpejackson.com/2009/10/28/la-morena/ ).

Carpe Durham has an updated review (http://carpedurham.wordpress.com/2009/04/05/the-almighty-wisdom-of-the-green-leaf-god/) of food from their normal menu.
Duck fat in Durham?
Does anyone know where I can get duck fat in/near Durham? Whole Foods said "we can barely get duck, let alone duck fat."
Thanks!

The Mint in Raleigh
For what it's worth, I agree that the tasting menu at The Mint (+ wine pairing!) is the best meal in the Triangle.
Cary/Umstead hotel - Heron's
Is your opinion of Heron's based on a recent experience when the new chef was there?
what local beer to buy in Chapel Hill/Durham?
Triangle Brewing Co. IPA is the clear answer here. It is the best of their beers, and it is on tap many places in Durham.
All People's Grill in Durham, NC
Great news, thanks. Is it just opening for special occasions these days?
Have you tried Tosca in Durham?
I have tried it a couple of times, and it was either very bad or underwhelming.
I would love to hear some more specific recommendations on dishes though, as it has been awhile and I would be willing to give it another shot.
All People's Grill in Durham, NC
Does anyone know if All People's Grill up on Guess in Durham is still open? I have tried to stop by a couple of times this month and it is always closed.
