What restaurants in Albuquerque are truly good and not just good for Albuquerque?

Since I'm a chowhound, not a foodie, I don't eat in expensive restaurants, but there are a few relatively inexpensive places in Abq that are outstanding. Viet Taste on Menaul. Mykonos on Juan Tabo and Eubank (much better than Yannis!). India Palace I'd give a B+ to. And I do love the carne adovada at Los Cuates, although it's just one of many good NM restaurants--Sadie's, Monroes, Eloys--i'm a traditionalist, i guess you can tell! Also gluten intolerant, so that limits where i can eat. Am looking forward to trying Budai, since up til now I haven't found a really great Chinese restaurant here. I like Thai Tip and Orchid Thai, they would be good anywhere--both make everything fresh, so be prepared to wait--both are tiny, family run places. Oh, tried Annapurna this week--ayurvedic vegetarian Indian, on Silver and Yale--very good food, although it's Indian home cooking, not festival food, and to die for mint and lavender iced tea. I'd go back just for that!

Yeah, I did Jennifer James once, the tapas place--one excellent dish, two that were ok but not great. Disappointing.

Vietnamese in ABQ?

May Hong is one of my go to places for lunch when I'm running arround town--good home cooking--inexpensive, good pho, i love the beef salad. Viet Taste is wonderful--truly exquisite food, everything i've had has been fantastic--and i grew up around Washington, DC, where the Vietnamise food is extraordinary! Especially in Virginia, it's true, but it's all the same urban blob. Tried Huang Thao a couple times, thought it was ok but not extraordinary--maybe I'm not ordering the right stuff!
