Restaurants in San Diego

Thanks for the response. I'm just looking for places similar to Hatsfield, Hungry cat or Jar in LA. I might try Market for dinner. Any more ideas.

Restaurants in San Diego

I'll be spending this weekend in San Diego and will be staying at the Four Seasons Aviara.
Looking for good food places. Nothing stuffy or frou frou or too touristy. Something with a local neighborhood feel, seasonal stuff and good muddled cocktails. Any place in La Jolla or closeby.

Whist at the Viceroy

Is it Whist or should it be called a 'waste' of time. I just had dinner there with a friend of mine and am astounded with the food. When we have to add an obscene amount of salt to everything that we ordered...that is a problem. The chef so called trips to Asia that was reflected on the menu....did he miss the bus on that one? I ordered the Thai noodle dish with red curry and it was bland and devoid of any flavor. My friend had a taste of it and felt that the instant noodle you get from a packet, tastes a lot better than whatever the chef was trying to pass off as "Thai". The pork belly was bland (surprise surprise) and hidden under a piece of toast (I wonder what inspired the chef). Next came our main courses which faired no better. I had the scallops that was cooked just right, served with arugula greens, raw cauliflower and some type of vinaigrette that didn't really have any flavor (there seemed to be a pattern here). My friend had the lamb and quinoa that was just that. I wasn't sure if it was Spa Cuisine or just plain laziness on the part of the kitchen crew on seasoning their food. It was a complete rip off and I felt the chef has no pride in his food.
