fact is in tri state metro area there are not too many modern places left and those that are get a decent dollar. its the more yeshivish ones that are plenty and will deal better. I know you can still get the Raleigh for a reasonable price.

Pesach HOTELS 2012

Its really very simple. if your going to pay less than 2500 per person(adult) than they cant possibly put out much of selection and a better hotel. the food may still be good but its gotta be a lower tier program. From 2500 and up you can get really nice beautiful hotels(not resorts) and a large selection of better foods and options. At the 3500 and up level your get true luxury resort(by resort i mean full faclity with golf course etc) and over the top food. Dual lunches dairy in the dining reoom and meat bbq by pools, theme dinners or bbqs everynight and top notch entertainment for adults and kids every day. For my money and waistline I find after 40 plus years the mid level is just fine as long as the caterers food is tasty and varied.

pesach in the cove

Yes I know RAm is a great caterer and i went to a hotel with them 3 years ago. How many people did they have in the program? i know they were charging over 4k plus taxes per person. thats a fortune of money.

Pesach HOTELS 2012

Cholent fresser, please dont comment by hearsay. stick to your own current experiences. I was at Lake Las Vegas like Sparkys mom and although this was my first year there I experienced a terrific foody experience. The breakfast were very good and plentiful, she didnt put out pickled lox but she did have NOVA every day and rotated Sable Carp(the real stuff), whole smoked white fish and baked salmon(whole) each day plus the usual deserts, cheeeses, egg stations etc. Lunches were buffet and she had all the usual hot and cold dishes and salads. she also had an ice cream/ices sorbet bar every day with a pizza and fries option for kids. The hot lunches had carving stations with roast beef, corned beef, pastrami and turkey and TONGUE. plus the usual hot items. The food was so plentiful(buffets never ran dry) and very tasty that the only complaint was the dairy meal soups were strange(my perosnal taste) the chicken soup was salty and not homemade and I gained too much weight. Dorothy really upgraded her program and the food program was very very good. Lastly they had HAND Shmura matzohs thru the whole yom tov. after the sedarim the waiters only put the machine out on the table but if you asked they brought out the hand in sealed boxes till even the last day which tells me she had plenty left over. Lastly by the way the hotel is beautiful and nice as any ive ever been to and the two pools are excellent(always open lounge chairs) and she had 1250 ppl and i would say 1249 were extremely satisfied.

Just got back from WorldWide Kosher Tours at The Westin Lake Las Vegas(formerly Loews). All i can say is wow. As opposed to previous years reviews here this year this program was great. The food was overall very good to excellent, the selection of items on the buffet was very varied each day and good. This is not a high price program(comparitively) but she served some very nice mains and buffet offerings that you may not expect at her price level. They really did a excellent job and the cooks for the Westin made it all taste really good. The programming was excellent, the crowd was mixed with all types and the hotel is beautiful. The tea room was large and spacious and had a nice assortment of chocalates, nuts, candy, chips, soda, water etc (not over the top or high end but more than enough) and it lasted thru the last days(no running short ). In fact the buffets pretty much never ran dry till the end of the meal. A really nice touch was the standard Thur Eve chometz barbque and she even did a chometz bagel breakfast friday am. Lastly on Sunday(when most programs just leave you whats left) they had bagels and were preparing fresh eggs and full dairy buffet. Thats probably the first time ive seen that in a lot of peasch going years.

Passover programs 2011

Yes my friend works for Ram at the Leblanc and its a 8* program tottally top shelf. Pesach in the cove will be the same except they are going after the sep swim, non gebrochts crowd. also very pricy. Mexico(riviera-cancun) is not a problem to travel to at this time.

Im with you Marty. Pesach is hard with all the koshering and special foods etc. Shavout is no diff than a 2 day shabbat. Used to be you could get away with 100-150 pp pr night, now its double and triple. not worth it for my dollar. i could get all shiurim I need in KGH.

I was also at the Gaylord Palms over YT and for what he was asking I agree that overall the food program was very good. Since this was their first time at the hotel they were probably a little off on their management and portioniong but what they served was usually very good. I waiters told us the kitchen setup was a 10min walk to the dining room but suprisingly all the food came out hot. The issue was the wait for condiments or items they didnt bring up from the kitchen to the dining room in advance. Also for some reason they didnt set place setting every meal at the table, just dinners. So you had to get forks/knives with your dish from the buffet and soda although plenty was on the buffet so u had to shlep glasses, ice and soda back to the table. i wonder if that was a waiter issue or the caterer instructed them to do that. On the upside we did have 2500 cheerleaders invade the hotel from Thur to Sunday chol hamoed. imagine that scene.
