Best nabeyaki udon in Toronto?
Tokyo Grill makes a mean nabeyaki as well. I had it a month ago last and was surprised they put lots of veggies in - pea shoot sprouts!
They also have soba every last Saturday of the month.
Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?
I believe I also had the shoyu as well .. it was quite flavourful when I had it, actually. Quite satisfying too.
Hotel Ocho - new Spadina-Queen lounge
Has anyone tried Ocho recently? I'm interested in their brunch menu .. sounds good. :)

Another one bite the dust - 'Jun Jun' aka 'Chicken & Noodle' no more!!
Big Joy not only had good noods -- their congee was BEST!!!

Where's the best fried chicken in the GTA ?
Noone's mentioned Drake yet? For their brunch, I think? I also know Parts n Labour has it in their brunch now.. but as a "special." Heard it's good.
Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?
NEAR Eaton Centre? I quite enjoy Liberty Noodle IN Eaton Centre...
$5 meal?
I know King's has noodle specials for about $3.50 ... and it'd be like wonton, or brisket... depending on the day.
Yes, banh mi as well, in Chinatown - I go to Nuygen Hong... $2.50 for one, I think?
The "What's good in Peel" thread.. (BRAMPTON/MISSISSAUGA Only please) :^)
Hmm. No one's mentioned Wally's?
Early Bird Dim Sum
Went to Very Fair (on Finch, between Midland and Kennedy) on the weekend w/my mom and she told me if we went before 11am, it'd be fixed price dim sum. Food was good -- tried the herbal chicken's feet and my mom told me to drink the sauce as it was full of good herbally things (goji berries too). They charge for tea though.
Early Bird Dim Sum
I believe the threshold is 10:45am, not 11am.. all you have to do is get your order card in, and they'll stamp that you ordered everything before 10:45am, and that you'll be eligible for the discount.. which is a fixed price (I can't remember) for everything!
Best Dim Sum in downtown Toronto
No worries... I think Rol San serves dim sum past hours, but certain ones like the noodle rolls aren gone from the menu. Same with Noble...
I'm surprised about the news re: Noble... they're our go-to for dishes, but not dim sum... they dont do a good job of it.
Why Is David Adjey?
Speaking of SLM, I see him around there twice now... recently (just this week, and a couple weeks ago!). He seems to be wearing a uniform -- what's he up to? Working?
edge-mag knife guards
Thanks for getting back! I just made mine out of cardboard and duct tape!!!
Soba Tuesdays
So does that mean you can only do Tuesday Soba and not order from the reg menu, if reservations are made?

For Ruth Chris -- does that mean we have to get outta there by 6:30, or just sit down by 6:30..?
Tokyo Kitchen
Visited Tokyo Grill the other night (cold), and had their nabeyaki udon and curry katsu.. it was perfect. I cant believe they used pea shoots to cover the whole hot pot of udon.. along with wakame. There were lots of snow pea shoots.. and quite quite yummy too.
I think I'm gonna have to go back and try their sukiyaki next .. when I'm more in the mood for beef.
edge-mag knife guards
Hi Aser, wanted to follow up on what you actually did... lemme know? I'm looking for a knife sheath as well.
Shopping Mall Food Court Favourites
I get the soups -- Tom Yum noodles, and the fillings are depending on what I need/want for that day. The Pad Thai's not bad either -- tell them to make it spicy for kick. It's good to see that they cook it in front of you, + its fast!
Shopping Mall Food Court Favourites
Hmm. Mine's Thai Express -- only 'coz you can see them making your food in front of you .. and its relatively delectable... ! They're pretty prevalent now too..
Big Meal, a new Japanese all-you-can-eat with table service
We were a party of three, and went on just this Monday afternoon (the boxing day). It was quite empty, we were the table left eating at the end..
Lunch AYCE (at $11.99) is quite good. The food quality is good. Stir fried udon is oily though, in fact, most cooked foods are on the oily side. And having had so much AYCE this past holiday season, I must say this one has one of the better sushi rices. Why would I rate on sushi RICE? Because if you can believe it -- some serve it WARM. Not only that, some serve regular white rice too.. shameful, I know. So this one was totally higher on the totem poll.. Quality of fish is good also. Portion size is awesome too -- you dont end up overeating just to finish the dish. Cooked fishes come in filets as opposed to whole fishes.
Beware not to sit near the window. We should have said something to move .. even with the shutters there, it was quite boiling warm!
As with any AYCE restaurant, go now as it's still new..
Banh Mi Boys
Thanks for the reply, but we went before seeing it.. ! I actually appreciated the fact that they didnt crowd their tables.. cuz they could easily fit a table right in the middle too.
