Diners, Drive-Ins, and Disasters

I agree the guy is a doucheb@g. We recently ran into him in a place featured by DDD. A friend from our party tried to say hello and compliment him on his show. He looked her up and down (she clearly wasn't his type), refused to shake her extended hand and walked away from her as she was talking. What an overinflated ego from a nobody in my opinion.

Cafe with good quality and unique salads - need to order for a crowd

Sounds great! I wound up organizing it at Restaurant Ellada. They are offering a great selection of meze and main dishes for a reasonable price. I will also post on my other thread once we have gone through the event.

Best canned, packaged or frozen soup

If you're a costco member, they have a frozen wonton shrimp soup that is a great product. I believe the brand is CP and it comes from Thailand

It's also kind of 'mean' to keep someone waiting only to blow them off. My event is in a couple of weeks and I have other things to do than run after someone who did not give me any consideration. I've made alternate arrangements but I just thought it was rude. She could have simply told me to look elsewhere since she is swamped during this time of year from the beginning.

Keramel, did you get in touch with her? I emailed her about 3-4 weeks ago for catering a baby shower. She emailed 2 days later to say she was in the midst of a 3 day busy period and would get back to me afterwards. I still haven't heard from her. Clearly, she's too busy to care about new customers. Looking for a good food delivery service in Montreal.

Alphonso mangoes

I had some Haitian mangoes from Sami last year. They sell them by the case and individually. I bought a couple and the flesh was tough and fibrous. They were green-yellow after a week of ripening chez moi. Maybe they need to be yellower (riper) when purchasing. I'll keep an eye out for them.

I don't think much has changed in the Moroccan dining scene in the past 5 years.

Restaurant suggestions near Trudeau airport?

How is Aryana? Have you been? I read some positive reviews and it sounded interesting.

Chobani yogurt - available in Montreal?

I tried the Oikos honey yogurt and found it artificial tasting; I'll have to try the plain one to make up my mind about Oikos. My friend raves about the cherry one but I have yet to find it in my local supermarkets.

Chobani yogurt - available in Montreal?

Too bad it's not Fage that's coming here. I find it superior in taste and texture to Chobani.

Possible venues/rests for baby shower (10-15 gals)

Thank you so much; that's exactly what I was looking for!

Possible venues/rests for baby shower (10-15 gals)

Thanks, I will look into it.

Possible venues/rests for baby shower (10-15 gals)

Up to $30 pp, SOME picky eaters (hence limited to Greek, Italian, French), not brunch...But thanks for your thoughts and helpful attitude.
Chicken salad sandwiches don't scream Chowhound to me either but to each his own. I think Madison's club sandwich will be right up your alley.

Nothing, huh?

Take out sushi in NDG/Wsmt, centre

Yumi sushi is quite good.

Possible venues/rests for baby shower (10-15 gals)

I'm helping to organize a baby shower for the end of May. It would be on a SAturday or Sunday afternoon (around 2-3 pm) and the group would consist of women aged 20 to 80 year olds. I would like to stick to a budget of 20-30$ pp including tax and a couple of bottles of wine/soft drinks and hopefully have a 3 course meal. We have some picky eaters in the group so we are limiting the cuisine to Italian, Greek or " continental ". Perhaps a classic French bistro would also work. If we could have an area to ourselves that we can decorate a bit would be a plus. So far the options are Philinos or Madison's. I'm trying to think of something more original to wow/impress...Can anyone help?
If we can't come up with something that fits most of these criteria, we will probably wind up doing it at home and get a caterer.

If I say RUE Jean-Talon OUEST (west) between DECARIE and St-Laurent in Montreal

Is this the old Punjab Palace?
EDIT: sorry just saw your other thread.

Grumman 78 Food Court @ Faubourg

Does Samir toast their pita sandwiches like Boustan? Have you noticed if there has been a significant change in the food since the original owner of Boustan sold the place last year?

Grumman 78 Food Court @ Faubourg

Same principle: naan bread, tandoori chicken or seeks kebab, salad veggies and some creamy sauce. Highly recommended because the ingredients are all fresh. I'll give Chicken tikka another chance.

Grumman 78 Food Court @ Faubourg

I tried that sandwich once at the end of the day and the ingredients seemed stale and the whole sandwich was dry. If ever i'mthere around lunchtime, I will give it another go. The best Indian sandwich I 've had is at ShahiPalace in the WI; it's out of the way for most city dwellers though.

oh, oh I hope it doesn't mean the menu/food will change

If I say RUE Jean-Talon OUEST (west) between DECARIE and St-Laurent in Montreal

I'm not sure. I think they are the same owners as the previous Delhi Bombay. Is that what they changed their name to?

Nouveau Hellas.

That's the old Kalavryta restaurant; unless it has been spruced up, the menu rehauled and there is a change of ownership, I would definitely pass.

If I say RUE Jean-Talon EST (EAST) between St-Laurent and Blvd Galerie d'Anjou

Their gyro is good but I dislike that they put lettuce in the gyro pita (even when you ask them not to) and their pita is the Arabic chewy kind.
