group dinner for 20 people

Hello, fellow chowhounders,

I am hosting a dinner for 20 people and am considering the following restaurants:

Smoke
Private Social
Cedar Social

Factors in my decision process - farm-to-table driven menu, chef who actually cooks at the restaurant, and a restaurant that isn't too loud. Many thanks as I don't know the Dallas area as well.

Foodie heading to Ann Arbor

Wow! You read my mind. I'm so thrilled that you told me about Grange. Now I'm excited about my trip to Ann Arbor.

I should also add that I am having breakfast at Zingerman's Deli.

Foodie heading to Ann Arbor

I could really use your help in finding a foodie restaurant from the Detroit Airport to Ann Arbor. I don't mind driving to find a terrific restaurant that emphasizes fresh, innovative, farm-to-table sort of food. Any suggestions?

lunch suggestion near Emory or Atlanta

Hello, fellow Chowhounders,

I am planning to dine at Bacchanalia and Woodfire Grill for dinner later this week during my business trip to Atlanta since I thought they had the best tasting menu. Now I am in need of a lunch spot near Emory or anywhere in the Atlanta area as I have a car. Ideally I would like to have a lovely lunch and walk around the neighborhood for shopping. Any suggestions?

Something besides Gjelina

Fellow chowhounders have not disappointed me. Many thanks to all of you with the posts. I tend to be a creature of habit when I find a great place to eat but can't wait to try out all these places. Given the rain today, I'll go to Joe's.

I would have gone here except it's not open for lunch. Ugh! Any other suggestions?

Something besides Gjelina

This looks great. I'll tuck this away in my list of places to try. For Friday, I wanted something with a greater variety than sandwiches and salad.

I've driven by Lemonade and always wanted to try this. Thanks for the reminder.

Something besides Gjelina

I would like to find a yummy restaurant besides Gjelina near the airport. I'm picking someone up from LAX on Friday and would like to go out to lunch near Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, or Venice. What appeals to me about Gjelina is simple - food is always excellent and the chance to try so many different types of dishes. Anything else like it in the area?

Foodie searching for quality food near Universal City

We are meeting my uncle and his wife who are staying at the Hilton in Universal City. We are not familiar with the area at all and need some delish options within 15 mintue drive during traffic. We love Mori Sushi, Gjelina, or Hatfield's. Anything comparable near Universal City?

quality group (15 people) dining experience that won't break the bank and near the Fountainbleau

I need to take a group out to dinner. It would be great if the restaurant was within 15 minutes from the Fountainebleau. I like Michael's Genuine Food & Drink but think it will be a hike to get there and is a little bit more than I can spend for the group. Any restaurants near the hotel but with great vibe and delish food?

hip ambiance + delish food

Proof and Central it is for the two nights that we are there. thanks to all for your suggestions. we'll try the others on our next visit.

hip ambiance + delish food

I'm an out-of-towner hosting a party of 6. we are foodies but would like to be at a restaurant that has good energy without breaking the bank. So far, Proof looks like our first choice. Co Co Sala looks good but the menu looks really complicated from their website. The other thought was Vidalia but wasn't sure about the "hip" factor. Any help you could provide would be great to make our D.C. experience fantastic.

scrumptious dinner for 25 people in Back Bay

aha, i forgot about brasserie jo. i went there some time ago and liked it. i'll check it out. my only concern with brasserie jo is that it's a bit out there if we want to walk back to newbury for drinks. sibling rivalry seems to have mixed reviews. any other suggestions?

scrumptious dinner for 25 people in Back Bay

On my last visit to Mistral, I found the food to be too salty and could hardly get the attention of our waiter. I also think the food is overpriced. Do you have any other suggestions?

scrumptious dinner for 25 people in Back Bay

I'm an out of state gal hosting a business dinner. In an ideal world, I would like to find an affordable (around $35 per person w/o alcohol) restaurant with scrumptious food. This is a young, responsible crowd so an overly stuffy place won't do. We want a comfortable restaurant where we can mingle without bothering other patrons. A semi-private or private room is preferred but not necessary. What matters is great food. Any suggestions around Back Bay / Pru area?

Monday night options in St. Louis

very good info. thanks.

Best restaurant near Midway Airport

You are so kind. I will go to Blackbird and follow your directions. I already love Chicago thanks to the people.

Best restaurant near Midway Airport

How about Mado, Cafe des Architectes or Blackbird? I didn't want too stuffy. Along with your choices, which would allow me to eat great food and walk around in case I had time to kill before going back to Midway airport? I cannot thank you enough for guiding me in the right direction.

Best restaurant near Midway Airport

okay. I'll hop on the orange line to downtown. I have to meet a client who is traveling from WI for lunch. If I want a swanky place with amazing food, where should I go?

Detroit/Dearborn best, fresh local restaurants

If you had one night to eat your last great meal in the Detroit / Dearborn area, where would you go? No chain restaurants. I'm in town for one night. My hotel is in Dearborn but can take a cab 15 - 20 minutes away. I like restaurants that use fresh, local flavors. I also love authentic Italian.

Monday night options in St. Louis

I had my heart set on going to Niche or An American Place for the one night that I would be in St. Louis only to find out that they are both closed on Monday. It would be wonderful if you can recommend a place that's comparable in food. Thanks!

Best restaurant near Midway Airport

My flight arrives at 10:30 AM at Midway Airport and departs from there at 3:30 PM. I would like to go somewhere for lunch in a neighborhood where I could walk around in addition to having a great meal. I am comfortable taking a cab or subway to get to the location 15 - 30 minutes. I don't know Chicago geography at all other than my appetite for the best food that Chicago has to offer. I am not interested in pizza or dogs. I love places where the chef has flawless execution. Any guidance you might have would be wonderful.

swanky, excellent food, and affordable in Dallas

Local looks great as does Stephan Pyles but they are beyond my price range. I like the price range of Hattie's. Is there something closer to The Joule than Hattie's? Or any other options besides Hattie's? I've heard mixed reviews of Lola. If you had to choose, would you go to Tillman's or Hattie's?

swanky, excellent food, and affordable in Dallas

I am hosting a dinner party for 14 people next week. I'm looking for a swanky ambiance (not too stuffy) with fantastic food but affordable. We are all staying at The Joule Hotel. So, it would be great if it was within a reasonable cab ride or walking distance. Please do not recommend the Charlie Palmer Restaurant at The Joule. I went to the Charlie Palmer Restaurant in CA and had to send my food back. Wine is not a factor but excellent food is a big deal. Does such a place exist in Dallas?

hip enough for 20 something but food good enough for 30 something

All of you saved me hours of research as I take your recommendations seriously. I've been anxious to try Wilshire so that's where we'll go. The 20 something might have to give up his burger for the night.

hip enough for 20 something but food good enough for 30 something

I am meeting a 20 something out-of-towner for dinner. I am a 30+ foodie but want to acknowledge the fact that I might have to sacrifice great food for location with a vibrant scene. I prefer restaurants like Hatfield's, Josie, Pizzeria Mozza, Fraiche, and A.O.C. but am afraid that they tend to attract an older crowd. Does anybody have a restaurant suggestion that could satisfy both parties in the Santa Monica, Venice, Pasadena, or West LA area?
