Looking for a desert place after a show for fam. We're from UES and don't spend much time around Carnegie Hall. But have a show and looking for a nice treat for our teens after show.

Awesome hit thanks
I'll discuss with Wifey tonight. I gotta ask about rental cars. I have been all over tripadvisor and hear everything from robery to incredible service and lifelong friends?!? Any feedback. Like I said I'm a NYer so I am sceptic all of all.

Really that sucks! Although, I guess that all that traffic is gonna take a toll on the ruin.
Out of the three Chichen, Tulum or Coba what would you recommend?

Nice - My gang are guac feinds.
What about other day trips? Since we are doing Tulum and Chichen is similar, we are thinking that we may have another out day to do? or do you recommend that we make the Ruin and the Cenote two separate trips?

Great! As we are hitting a full day in Tulum area and this would likely be our lunch spot, any plugs for dinner here or back in Cancun for that matter?

Great I will certainly try out Cueva Del Pescador - "Fisherman's Cave". tripadvisor says to get the ceviche and the octopus? Are you in favor?
As well, what about Lucy's next door for homemade coconut ice cream?

Thanks we will take a look at that. We are kinda looking to see some more of the vernacular of mexico while there. My gang is a pretty hearty bunch and we typically don't do the big tourist thing. I'm sure just because of where we are staying we are going to have quite a bit of that overly comfy type of atmosphere. that's why I was hoping to get a little bit down-&-dirty (with great food) on the Tolum trip. we are from NYC so eating at sidewalk and street cafes are a standard. White table and fru-fru, not really our style.

Beach & Veggo - I'm wondering how all the suggestions worked out? My wife and 2 tweens are headed to Cancun over ther Easter break and have a few day trips planned for Tolum & Cenote diving. We are staying at Villa del Palmar Cancun with all inclusive but for our day trips I want some real food! Any good calls we should look at?
We are also headed to The Jungle Place (Spider Monkey Sanctuary) in Quintana Roo. I'm thinking that this may be too much to pack into one day and may want to make it two separate days??? That way I get more local food ;)

No we are just looking to get out of NYC and do something cool. Too bad we will miss one another. We are staying at the Intercontinental so if you find any good breakfast stops let me know. It seems that is the one hole I currently have in my plan. Also my wife is concerned about the potential of a "Lost" day by going to Salem? But I think it will be worthit?? Any comments.

I read on Yelp go to Monica's Salumeria for fresh pasta, sauces and other Italian groceries. Good luck! We leave on Monday and can't wait!!!

Check out this old post from July last year:

It may help on the mapping part. It's for a different season but it is very extensive and detailed. on timing and locations.

OUCH! I am just getting back to very light exercise (Today)! But I remember the pain! who would have thought such a small injury would affect everything you do???
Anyway, we arrive on Monday and depart on Friday. Wow that is tight!
I'll try to post immediately so you have some time to react.
Although we did Key West last year off of Chowhound, and all the posts were spot-on! So I'm expecting that, with all the recommendations you received, you (and now I) will be GOLDEN on this trip!!!

palmtree38 - My family parallels yours two children (B-11 & G-9) we are going to Boston next week for four nights. I will piggyback your request and try out a good sampling of them and give report. We, like you are Jr Foodies live in NYC and walk everywhere. we are staying at the Intercontinental near Downtown. We have never been to Boston so I could not be happier to find your requests and research already done. Thank you!
P.S. I just got my boot off (1 broken and three dislocated toes)

Where to buy foie gras (goose)?

I just came from Schaller & Weber (1654 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10028) and they typically only have Goose Foie Gras (yes GOOSE) during the Christmas season, but I requested that they order it special for me and Ralph (head butcher) fulfilled my ThanksGiving wish. I'll let you all know how it was next moth.
