Will be in Sareguemines for Saturday lunch and am trying to find a nice brasserie/restaurant for some frog legs...maybe those in cream sauce. Any recommendations?

Will be in the Palm Springs area for one week this summer. (Visiting from Germany) What is the best, most authentic Mexican restaurant. Would also like any other recommendations for food which should not be missed. Interested also in California/American, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Middle Eastern, or Indian.

Birthday Lunch or Dinner Positano (Single mother with 10 year old boy)

I will be in Positano, next week, and will be celebrating my birthday there with my ten year old son. We both are foodies (it starts young with him) and I teach Culinary Arts at a high school within Europe. I am looking to have great food and views...but now for hours on end (though I would like nothing better). Looking for amazing seafood. Price is not an issue...but I do not need to have a "fancy" locale. Something special for my birthday, and our trip.

Thank you in advance. I have read all the posts on Positano and made notes. Folks mention birthdays, anniversaries, romantic locations - but I rarely see much geared for folks with children...especially if it is just one parent and a child. The dynamic is so much different.

Grazie.

What Italian food items do you bring back to the U.S.?

It is a very thick balsamico perfect for dipping strawberries...and my child loves to dip crusty bread in this too!

several chunks of parmesan
dried capers
dried tomatores
tubes of anchovy paste - perfect for making caesar dressing

Ferry Building Market - one meal Tuesday/Saturday

If I could only eat ONE meal at the Ferry Plaza Building it would be at The Slanted Door. I love the Shaking Beef...but everything on the menu is exquisite. Next in line would be Boulette's Larder.

British style Indian restaurant

Shalimar in SF (Jones St.), Fremont (Walnut), and Sunnyvale (El Camino) is the best Pakistani/Northern Indian food around. On a Friday night or Friday noon...you will see 95% Indian/Pakistanis in there enjoying their meals...and the rest of us are folks in the know. Been going there for over ten years.

Wiesbaden

My child and I must go to Wiesbaden next weekend for business/pleasure. We are looking for some recommendations of really outstanding restaurants which are child friendly (I have a foodie child who eats everything and loves to explore!) and have truly amazing food. We would love to try specialities of the Wiesbaden area, as well as, international foods (Arabic, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.). We currently live in Bamberg and do not have too much international offerings; therefore, when we are in big cities we try to find this!

Stuttgart

Vielen dank! I live in Bamberg and we do not have a lot of "ethnic" restaurants. Our Indian, for example, (and there is only ONE) is really horrid. I must say that I have had excellent Indian food in Berlin and in Garmisch! So...my little boy and I are excited about going to a big city and eating some foods which we love and can not get im Franken. I also am a stickler for "authentic" and I do understand what you mean by "tex mex". We are also looking forward to visit the home area of "spaetzle"! My child is tired of "kloss". Thank you! I am hoping to find a couple really, good and true (with a lot of locals) Swabian restaurants. Bis bald!

Vienna not to be missed

I traveled here with my child from where we reside in Germany. One restaurant we ate at, just the two of us, for a special night out was Zum Finsteren Stern. It was perfection. There were two daily specials and we each ordered one, so as to share. My child was 8 years old at the time and there was no problem with him eating at this trendy, yet friendly restaurant. There was a party occurring the same evening and there were other children inside the restaurant. The prepartion of the meal was excellent.

One of the days we were here, we went over to the Naschmarkt and tried several specialities (at lunch). I had a marvelous glass of wine there.

We also enjoyed a lunch at Cafe Demel and followed it with some of the most delectable cakes I have ever eaten (we have also visited Cafe Demel in Salzburg).

For a snack...we stopped at Buffet Trzésniewski on a couple of occasions. It is a very small, hole-in-the-wall, place deep in the heart of Vienna...with a buffet of 18 various finger sandwiches. All delicious. (Variations of cream cheese, egg, onion, salami, herring, tomatoes, lobster, and meat spreads.)

We also had a superb meal at the Österreicher im MAK Gasthof & Bar. This is in the city’s Museum of Applied Art, or MAK. This is not a simple, museum restaurant. This is a well respected culinary destination in Vienna. The menu is divided into two categories, one featuring "classical" and the other "modern" Viennese cuisine. There are specialities such as: Wiener schnitzel or roasted chicken in a creamy paprika sauce with small creamed dumplings. This was another great dining experience (though the staff was not as friendly as in other restaurants).

Stuttgart

Obviously, I am posting because I am asking for the recommendations of folks who are familiar with Stuttgart. I have lived in Germany on and off for over 40 years. I am going to Stuttgart in a couple of weeks and would like to try some places which have received excellent recommendations. For the record, I have eaten excellent Vietnamese in Munich and was hoping to find the same in Stuttgart. There are many Swabian restaurants and would like to know what is considered the best.

Tuscany - Stuffed Zucchni Blossoms

I am looking to enjoy stuffed zucchni blossoms when in Tuscany later this month. Does anyone know of any locations in Tuscany? Last time I was in Italy I looked everywhere and could not find any.

Thank you.

(Will be in the following areas: Florence, Siena, Chianti, Livorno, Pisa, Tirrenia, Lucca, La Spezia, Cinque Terre, and Vicenza - though I know it is not Tuscany).

Does anyone have any dining recommendations for the Pisa area (to include Tirrenia and Livorno)? Open to any suggestions - lunch or dinner - pizzas, pastas, steaks, or wonderful seafood. We enjoy everything and just want something very authentic and not for tourists.

Thank you in advance.

Hotel with delicious dining in the Chianti, San Gimignano, Siena area

I read with great delight about the dining options in these towns, however, I am traveling with my 9 year old son (who also adores all food) and would like to spend a night in this area (we will be based out of the Pisa area). I would like a hotel that is a great hotel, but also one with a fine reputation for its dining. It does not have to be in the middle of town. In fact the places I have read about outside of towns appear amazing.

Does anyone have a rec for a hotel with outstanding food in any of these areas?

Quick trip to Berlin on a budget: Can you please review my choices and suggest others?!

That is your opinion. The one I visited in Potsdamer Platz was quite tasty and quick. Also affordable. I visit the location in Nurnberg, occasionally, and it is also very good. Again, this is totally subjective. For a quick lunch or snack, Vapianos is fine.

You stated German and Turkish, however, this is a great restaurant with great prices. Try Vapianos. There is one location in Potsdamer Platz which I have visited and I believe another location. It is a trendy place for pizza, pasta, and salads. Nice selection of wines and then coffee and dessert are great too. See the website: Vapiano.de.

Pisa, Tirrenia, Livorno

My 9 year old child and I will be staying in the Pisa area for two weeks from mid July to end of July. Any recommendations of great places to eat? We eat/try everything, have no allergies, and both love culinary adventures. My child has eaten at fine dining and "holes in the wall" places. We love them all. We only ask for authentic, good, food of whereever we are visiting. Can be casual or not. Please make some recommendations: pizza, pasta, fish, we love the flavors of this area of Italy (and actually all of Italy).

Thank you.

Mpls Food Trucks - Who's The Best?

My child and I are visiting MSP from Germany this week. I teach Culinary Arts and we are avid foodies.

THIS PLACE IS FABULOUS! The staff responded to my facebook inquiries yesterday and today as to the location. Once we stood in line we were so impressed by:

1) Friendliness!

2) Cleanliness!

3) Ease of finding!

Finally we were impressed by the FOOD! My child had the huge burritto stuffed with bbq pork etc. I had the tacos and we both shared the bahn mi! Wow. Exquisite. We have been raving all afternoon. He kept on stating how he pities the folks eating at the Mall of America!

I strongly encourage Vellee...if they have not already to go to MOA! Wow! They would be severe competition to those folks already there (poor food and behaviors)!

Again...much praise to Vellee! I lived in CA for 20 years and have eaten off many food trucks there and in Texas. I realize this is a whole new movement, but never before have I eaten such fine "fast food".

The best.
