St. Martin - Latest and Greatest places to dine??
The Lolo's in Grand Case are a lot of fun, huge plate of anything you can imagine, and you can't beat $1/€1 beers.
The best meal I had was at Cafe La Plantation - at the La Plantation resort in Baie Orient.
NC - Triangle Area Butcher/Boucherie
I'm looking for a good Triangle area butcher - particularly one that might have marrow bones and other "hard to find" cuts? Anyone have any recommendations?
Where do the foodies eat in Wilmington, NC
Caprice provided one of the best meals I've had this year - and that was with an almost absurdly large (and rowdy) party. We drove down from the Triangle to see an old friend who was touring with her significant other's band. Now, there's something to be said for dining and drinking with touring rock bands - but it wouldn't usually be that they have a great knowledge of quality food. The band (a few members of which had logged long years living in Belgium) had already made a couple visits to Caprice on previous swings through Wilmington. Had a great country pate (well, the table had three orders to share) a lot of Pommes Frites, and a really nice duck confit. I
Cocktail and Wine Bars in the Triangle
It's a different kind of place than some of the others mentioned - but the bar at Lantern in Chapel Hill is well worth the trip down 15-501. First of all, there's a sophisticated city vibe in the room. Secondly, the expertly mixed cocktails are intriguing tributes to the place's Asian influences.
(oops, somehow missed the mention of Lantern. duh)

Green enchilada sauce?
Depending on the amount, you could use it to braise some pork or chicken ... green chili sauce makes great taco/enchilada etc filling. Just mix it with some water/stock and add to lightly browned pork or chicken. Simmer until the meat falls off the bone.
Sure - you could make a scratch braising liquid, but if you've already got it....
21st birthday celebration in Chapel Hill
I would second Acme as a suggestion - it's some of the better food i've had since moving down here last winter, and the atmosphere is really pleasant. I especially like the focus on local ingredients. It's not Chez Panisse, but we shared a very nice plate of local tomatoes, and many of my foodie friends/coworkers (all NY/DC/LA/SF transplants) swear by the Alison's Farm Fried Chicken.
Twisted Noodle open in Durham
I ate at Twisted Noodle(s) a few weeks back and while I was fairly impressed with the food, I wasn't happy with the service, and frankly the room is horrible.
My party of three ordered Laab, fried calamari, and Chicken Satay for the less adventurous among us. The Laab was tasty - though I think that one of us was expecting "Crying Tiger" instead of the mound of wonderfully spicy tender ground meat, cilantro, and peppers we had. The calamari wasn't memorable. Literally. I have absolutely no recollection of it at all. The same holds true for the Satay (though to be fare, I expect is was devoured by our intern/diner companion before I had a chance at it) My major complain about our first course was that we had to ask twice before our drink order was delivered - after our first course arrived. Spicy as the Laab was, I really wanted that Singha.
For the main course, one of my companions ordered a panag chicken curry that was fairly tasty, the other, a "Thai Chili and Basil" seemed like an introductory dish for a locale that had never been exposed to south east Asian cuisine. I had something called "Volcano Chicken" which was a coconut milk marinated half bird served on a sizzle plate. It resembled a decent Tandoori preparation - but substituting coconut milk and maybe lemongrass for the yogurt marinade used in Tandoor.
All in all, passable food, poor service. My second visit - or rather attempt at a visit - ended quickly when the only table offered us in the near empty restaurant faced directly into the blindingly bright setting sun. When I asked the host to move us to another table, his suggestion was that I move around the side of the table. I moved - the sun was still intolerably bright. When we again asked to move to another of the many empty tops that weren't situated in the absurdly bright ray streaming in through the glass front doors the host seemed reluctant and confused. We left, and I'm not sure we'll go back.
