Under Cabinet Range Hood Recommendations

Thanks goes out to all of you for the great hood fan feedback and suggestions, which has helped me complete another element of my kitchen reno.

Discovered I can only put up to a 300 CFM hood fan in our condo complex - found a great deal tonight on a 30" 300 CFM VAH fan, 18" high/24" deep - Hood fan purchase has been made - will be installing later this weekend...
Thank You, hope you all have a Merry Christmas...

Appreciate the reply - still trying to get an answer as to how many CFM's I can have in our condo complex - pan seared some scallops for dinner tonight (with no fan) and when my wife came home a few hours later she commented on the smells still lingering in the condo - can't wait to complete this Reno project - will check out your link - thanks!!!

Thanks again - I also think the cavity over the cook top is essential - 18" gives you the 24" depth that covers off the front burners...

Is your hood over gas or electric, and is it the 9" high or 18"
And when doing some heavy duty cooking on your stove top, is my thinking correct that it would be quieter to run two motors on a lower speed than one higher... Thanks again for the reply...

Again, thank you, I appreciate the feedback - From what I have been reading online, I think as you have probably found with your purchase, that it is better on many fronts ( quiet/air moved) to run 600 CFM's on a lower speed than to run 300 CFM's on a higher speed to achieve the same result - would you agree with that thought...
how long have you had your VAH - do you have the 18" high model or 9" high - what do you think of its stove top lighting, and controls for lighting and fans... and cleaning... Have been looking at VAH, but have seen such a wide spectrum of reviews, good and bad, was hoping to hear from someone like you who has had a great experience with a similar application in a condo/house...

Thanks for the reply - Still checking into max CFM's allowed in our condo complex - had an electrician in to do some ceiling fan wiring in our living room and he mentioned that I just couldn't exceed 1200 watts or 12 amps - which according to that info, I could have as many CFM's as I want, so I am checking further...
Will have a look at the Zephyr line...

Just moved into Condo - removed microwave from above 30" wide electric stove (can't have gas) - will be putting in an 30" wide by 18" high by 24" deep under cabinet range hood
Looking for wisdom from those who have completed this type of kitchen reno - what brand should I buy that I would be very happy with...

Important hood qualities would be: Quiet ; 300 or 600 CFM ; brand (thoughts on VentAHood and others) ; budget - midrange pricing, higher if need be ; clean up

Thanks in advance for any advice in helping me choose the right range hood that would fit this reno application...
