Big Bite Burrito - Scarborough East

I'll probably buy a burrito a week, dunno if that will keep them open though. Mom's was there for like 2 months maybe... thats the reason I made a post, restaurants around here fail quick for some reason.

Big Bite Burrito - Scarborough East

Bite Bite Burrito just opened up on Kingston and Poplar, as I live close by, I was able to try them today.

Had a Small crispy chicken burrito $5.99, I think that is $1 off, as an opening special. Burrito was Tasty and filling, place is clean and ingredients were fresh, very similar to say Burrito Boyz (but not as trendy interior wise) but convenient if your are in east Scarborough.

So this is just a heads up for People in this area, if you have easy access to a Fat Bastard's or BB's etc, enjoy those.

no website or facebook, that I could find.

Burritos in Scarborough

its funny Stacy took about 3 years but now there are quite a few burrito places in the east end. I happen to live just off Poplar, eager on the progress of Big Bite burrito.

McDonalds poutine

I think their Poutine is great curds squeak, tastes great... I've had the real thing all over Quebec and McD's does a good job with the fries they use. The only thing I hate is a order a "Putin", and the cashier always says "Pooh-teeeen"?

Where can you buy Bombay duck in GTA?

sorry got it wrong, I thought they were the same plse disregard Pomfret is just another fish popular in India.

Where can you buy Bombay duck in GTA?

Ok I guess I confused the two, I think what I was thinking of is Bombil - thats what some Indians call the dried Bombay Duck

Where can you buy Bombay duck in GTA?

it may also be called "Pomfret"

Where can you buy Bombay duck in GTA?

I actually know the dried version quite well from the smell it is also known as Pomfret, the dry version should be available in most Indian grocery stores. beware the smell of your kitchen after preparing them though.

Steeles & Warden - Best Restaurant For Take Out Dinner - Any Scrumptious Cuisine

Jerk Chicken Shawarma and Poutine sounds interesting, I have to try this ASAP

Best dosas?

Madras Palace on Ellesmere is closed down as far as I know, but they still have a place in Richmond Hill. It was my go to place but quality on the Scarborough one went down hill till they closed. The Richmond Hill one might be good.

Anjappar Chettinad in Scarbrough Is the best in recent memory for Dosas I get the Ghee Masala Paper Roast, which is thinner and crispier. and its like 2 feet long

Also was good with a lot of differnet Dosas to try

Cast Iron Skillet [moved from Ontario]

I already had a cast iron skillet for camping, which its great for, you can use it on a fire and have no worries of damaging it. but this video got me interested in using it at home.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wg0UD...

the benefit of the cast iron pan is the high heat you can cook at, but I do find I use it for frying too. i think mine was only $20 a few years ago.

the only downside is its really heavy and gets dangerously hot.

oh and btw you can make a steak like no other inside your house. Only better steak I make is on charcoal outside.

Wanting to buy fresh ghost peppers.

If you saw them at Loblaws, and they are not currently carrying them, maybe ask if they can order some for you. if you want a bulk order they might comply.

Visiting Toronto for the first time

I second Seven Lives, great tacos!, also I would try a burrito, at burrito boyz or one of the many others. I dont think they have them in montreal, like they do toronto. If you are driving in, stop at Shawarma Empire or Ibrahim's on lawrence east scarborough. Also could recommend any California sandwiches for a great veal sandwich.

Roti like the Real Jerk made it

Roti Hut in Scarborough - it has Dahl puri rotis and really tasty curry inside, my fav I have tried in the GTA. The service isn't always the best, sometimes west-indian attitude, but the food is great.

The Best Tacos in Toronto

I really enjoyed the mahi mahi fish taco at seven lives, very fresh tasting and quality ingredients. its great, but the only thing is, there was no salt in the fish or batter, so it was a little bland.

the only better fish taco I have had was Tacofino in Tofino BC.

Trip from UK, need recs please

I would recommend a visit to Kensington market for a nice walk around, and try some tacos, maybe at seven lives. or one of Toronto's somewhat famous burritos at big fat burrito (yam and steak is good).

if time permits a trip through Scarborough (if you are coming from Kingston) to lawrence east. and a shawarma at Ibrahim's or Shawarma Empire, is among the best in the city. Also Eglinton east. you can try good south Indian/sri lankan at Anjappar chettinad and have a good Ghee Masala paper roast dosa.

Scarborough Gems

I think because this used to be an Italian bakery, they still have veal and pastas on the hot counter, but maybe the baked goods are more french.

ISO: Wahoo

I have had wahoo fish sandwiches in bermuda several times, it is by far my favorite fish,(best one was at black horse tavern in st.davids). I wish I could find something similar in toronto i have heard mahi mahi is similar but can't find that either.

*I found PC blue has mahi mahi, 2 fillets (280g) for $10 not that cheap but will try it out.

Suggestions for Ottawa restaurants

For fast food that has quality, Shawarma Palace on rideau, has the best shawarma I have ever tried. gta/ottawa/montreal included.

Birchmount & Sheppard

I have only tried them for their veal sandwiches which are great, but Agincourt Bakery (Italian) at a plaza Pharmacy north of Finch may be worth trying. at least for the sandwich.

Casinorama Restaurants

Weirs is alright, sort of like pub food. I dont really like the main buffet but it is popular, have also tried the chinese spot and it was decent for buffet or a la carte. Havent tried the steak place might be hard to get in on a concert night.

they have an Italian restaurant but it was a bit pricy for me.

Scarborough To-Do List - What have I missed? What SHOULD I miss?

Ghareeb Nawaz is my favorite byriani in scarborough, I have tried it from about 10 places. worth checking out.

The Nilgiris --- South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant

I had a cheese Masala Dosa at the Scarborough location and it was good. Kind like a grilled cheese sandwich. Sri lankan style.

New Shawarma place - Scarborough

I passed by a new place and decided to try it. Called "Amazing Shawarma & Falafel"
They only had Chicken today, I usually get beef when I buy shawarma. It was quite good - I would say on par with any of the ones I have tried, further west in Little Arabia. Not sure when they opened, but it was pretty busy. Lebanese style, owner said he was from Iraq. they have a facebook page without much info.

$6.99 for 2, decent size too (the pic attached is 1 sandwich)

2928 Eglinton Ave. east at McCowan, across from home depot.

Accessible dimsum place with reservations?

I tried some Dumplings From T&T that you take home and steam, or pan fry.

Pyung Hwa Brand Korean Dumplings. they are pre-cooked, so you just choose how to heat them. They were really good. Better than most of the frozen Dimsum, I have tried at Chinese Markets.

Help! MUST EATS for my one ever trip to Toronto!

If you are not from Sanfransisco, maybe try a Burrito, they are quite popular in Toronto, and there's one place right at bay/dundas. I had a Yam and Steak burrito, and It was Delicious!

Sinhalese food in Toronto?

I'm not sure if they are Sinhalese. But if you like Masala Dosa

http://www.anjapparcanada.com/dosa.htm
Is nice and clean, with good food.

also Madras Palace, (the scarborough location is kind of lackluster on the decor.) But good food.

ISO Matcha Green tea and Sencha Green tea

Sanko on Queen had Matcha in a small tin for $10-15, and Sencha.

the Matcha was really good. (should call first to see if they still carry it)

Nathans Hot Dogs

I tried Highland Farms on Ellesmere, they didn't seem to know about nathan's hotdogs (talked to a buyer), also tried Highland Farms on Lawrence east of Morningside, no luck.

Tried my first Nathan's hotdog in the food court of Punta Cana Airport of all places, a week ago... I've been having cravings since. I usually opt for sausage.... but this hotdog is special.
