Dinner can be more like 7/7:30/8-- we'll just have more time to kill before the flight then!

Inexpensive Restaurants in the Park Slope Area

Song can be great if you hit it right! I like the beef salad.

Early dinner near Public Theater

great jones cafe - cajun style, burgers drinks wings salads fish chili - amazing and has been there forever, divey but cool, great jukebox, great margaritas
hecho en dumbo - tacos/mexican in a cool setting
peels - fried chicken!
chinatown brasserie - stylish dim sum

it's also an easy walk from soho or east village restaurants-- the above are within a few blocks, but if you want to do newyorker-style you could have a real stroll after you eat!

En route from Grand Canyon to Phoenix - delicious bites?

I'll be traveling from the Grand Canyon to Phoenix in a couple weeks-- we'll be departing the canyon in the morning, and have a flight out of Phoenix airport that night, we'll plan to be there around 9pm.

We're planning some sightseeing/hike stops, but wanted to know if there are any delectable food stops off of 17 that are can't-miss destinations? We are from NYC, so are particularly into things that are unique to the region, and more of the "cheap eats" variety, we are NOT afraid of dives! And then maybe a quick bite in Phoenix proper for before the plane ride.

If anyone wants to add can't-miss sights along that route, too!

Thanks!

help? ONE DAY ONLY in LA - 20-somethings visiting from NYC

if we were looking at joans on third for lunch, then potentially son of a gun for dinner-- they are right in the same neighborhood? that seems a shame. is there another 'hood (and food spot) that would be good for diversity?

we thought of this, and also "son of a gun". have you been? pros/cons of either?

i keep seeing gjelina mentioned-- though seems similar to some places in NYC?

someone had suggested "joan's on third" but it seems the draw there might be more scene than food... thoughts?

help? ONE DAY ONLY in LA - 20-somethings visiting from NYC

hi all

visiting LA with a few friends, coming from NYC-- will be in the city for one night only (a thursday), staying in hollywood.

NYC native, big into food, looking for a fun, fairly casual dinner restaurant, definitely a cool kinda young "hip" place to be (but not obnoxiously so), great food but can be simple. not too pricey (but doesn't have to be dirt cheap). willing to take a little drive for an interesting scene. maybe something like "very LA" or "very california" (in a good way).

if you're familiar with NYC, some of our favorite places here are (in manhattan) cafe habana, corner bistro, veselka, balaboosta, taim, (in brooklyn) roberta's, egg, frankie's 457, fatty cue, m wells

also-- a cool lunch spot straight from the airport thursday? a dazzling spot to grab breakfast to-go on friday morning?

many thanks, california folks!
