Fairfield County Neighborhood Italian Restaurants-Solid Food with reasonable prices

Maybe I am in the "Thanksgiving" mode, but isn't it nice that we all have a "go to" restaurant. We can afford a dinner out when we don't want to cook? I am very grateful. :)

Franco Gianni's has the air conditioning that doesn't quite make it. They know it, but don't own the building.

We used to go to the old Jennie's, too. We still like the pizza. Have you tried the Italian place across the street? McGowans? We like to go there for a change of pace.

Chips? I wish there were a Shop Rite going in there. We used to love Stop and Shop, but not so much, now. But that is off topic. :).

We stopped going there summer of 2011. They have poor air conditioning. We were hot and asked them to turn on the overhead fans. Two 16 year old girls said they were cold, (what the heck?) They turned off the fans. We decided that if they valued the two 16 year olds business more than our twice a week check with big tip, we would take our business elsewhere.. We now enjoy Jennie's in Monroe. Also, when we feel like spending $$, we go to La Scogliere in Shelton. It is REALLY good, and they make a mean drink, too. But, Jennie's is BYOB, and their food is very good, so we go there more often. Too bad, we miss the calamari at Franco Gianni's.

I wish there were more places in Trumbull to eat.

Is there something going in across from Home Depot?

Windmill in Stratford...closed?

The ad says hot dogs, hamburgers, German knock wurst, potato pancakes, pastrami, corned beef, and turkey club sandwiches, French dip roast beef, hand cut fries, soups, salads, chili, and daily early bird specials 5-7 pm. So I guess they are trying to keep up the old ways. I don't see onion rings. I could speculate, but didn't their cook retire? And the loss of French's bakery ( but that's another story).... At least Rudy can retire.

Windmill in Stratford...closed?

Vazzy's has "coming soon" in their ad today. Still called the Windmill Tavern. WindmillTavernRestaurant.com. " Our latest addition to the Vazzaro Family".

A gallon of Manhattans!

I just remembered where I had the lemon twist. It was at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA).

A gallon of Manhattans!

I stand corrected. One drink for each person. Never tried having just one...........:) Don't knock the syrup until you have tried it, Or...........have you ever tried one with a lemon twist, no cherry? Very good.

I like the neon cherries, and to sweeten it a little, I put some of the cherry juice in the drink. I am more of a 4 to 1 person, but they are a drink that people like THEIR way. :) I am a seagram's 7 fan, myself. Looking at your shopping list, is 2 liters of rye enough for 30 people?

You just gave away our "secret". We eat there twice a week. The only thing I would change are the hours. They close the kitchen at 8:30 weekdays. There pizza is the best around, as well as their fried calamari. Their staff is friendy, and service is great.
