oh no! What threatening news! The HD has been cracking down turbo hard lately. Lets just hope that they've encountered a "miss-understanding" of sorts and nothing too major that would leave us starved, bland, and crying on Prince St. for good.

Uncle Zhou 大河人家 Elmhurst

Man! I was a #1 fan of this place until the past to times I visited. Its totally gone down the poop-shoot. Cold, watery noodle soup and hard steamed pork buns. I think Uncle Z knows it too and just doesnt care anymore. What a bummer.

What discontinued products do you miss?

Uneeda Biscuits and ranch flavored Ruffles potato chips! Mmm there was nothing better than a cold pat of butter on one of those biscuits- the best!

Hi there! Just curious to see what you ended up doing for your honeymoon...
I was searching the CH boards for ideas for our honeymoon in November (this year) and have similar inquiries as you did. Hopefully you had a great time where ever you decided to go and came back with some rec's!

Manhattan & Queens Crab - Lobster All U Can Eat special

I'm hesitant to share this tip, only because I feel as if this place and I share a secret bond. BUT, for the love of AYCE crabs, I shall give in.

FISH (Bleeker x7th)

All you can eat Blue Maryland Style crabs for $21! Check the website for the details....

Expect to enter into tunnel vision as soon as the waiter dumps the huge ass bucket of love onto your newly newspaper covered table. Remember, safety first. Wear the bib.

Is there such thing as awesome food at an all inclusive?

Early November...

Thanks so much for your help! It's greatly appreciated.

All inclusive for foodies?

Thanks so much for the suggestions so far! I love the way Curtain Bluff looks in Antigua! Royal Hideaway looks fantastic as well.
Any idea how the weather in Antigua would be in November?

Looking forward to getting more recs! It's so fun to search and compare- especially via Chowhounder. You guys are trustworthy.

Hi! We're looking for any recs for an all inclusive hotel/resort in Mexico for our honeymoon.
We can't say that all inclusive is "our thing", but friends have been telling us that after planning a wedding, the last thing you want to do is plan on your vacation.

We're huge foodies from NYC and have pretty high standards- not saying that things need to be pricey, just well executed, authentic food, & and not touristy.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Great African restaurant?

For turbo yummy South African food, my favorite in Madiba in Ft Greene. HANDS DOWN! I love to have brunch there (terrific bloody marys!) and then hit up the Brooklyn Flea on Saturdays in the summer.

Sripraphai - Not overrated

Sriprapai certainly IS NOT over-rated. Papaya salad is bliss. Green curry egg noodles are out of this world! The spice level is outstanding. BBBBUUUUTTT! Try out Chao Thai in Elmhurst. I fell in love with thai food when I was living in Bangkok for three months 2 years ago. As I dined at Chao Thai, I actually thought I had time traveled back to Thailand in one night. AUTHENTIC TO THE MAX!

Chinese delivery.

Who has the best and why? Any borough, and hood.

Im a HUGE fan of Green Leaves in Greenpoint BK. Super garlicky/gingery foods and best seaweed-egg soup. Speediest service I've ever seen!

Mexican restaurant with the best salsa bar?

Moe's on 1st ave has a free salsa bar. Its still "chain" style food though. Good, but, chain-style. :(
There are very few places that even serve complimentary salsa and chips when you sit down. I suggest you hit up Calexico in Greenpoint (manhattan ave). They have food so incredibly yummy, that when you go home, you wish you had gotten another burrito to-go. They also serve free plantain chips and a special spicy, peanut salsa when you sit down (and will gladly refill!) AND they have a killer hot sauce selection at each table. oh, AND great drinks. Enjoy...

honey on pasta?

This is my favorite honey + pasta recipe! It's so good in the summer. I usually add a little more honey. The red onion, sunflower seeds, and mandarin oranges, EVERYTHING, are a match made in heaven!

Private brunch. Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill area

We're looking to host a private, post-wedding brunch for a Saturday in November for around 50 people. We're open to any budget and would like to stick with typical NYC brunchy foods. Any ideas?
Oh, and we LOVE a good Bloody Mary! We'll be getting hitched at The Green Building, so anywhere in that surrounding area would be perfect.

Pacific Casew Carrot Ginger Soup

I typically love to use this soup as a "base" when I make soup at home! It's so good. Brown some onions and garlic, add the box of CCG soup, some water, and yellow lentils, salt, pepper, spices... you can do anything really!

Shrimp Toast.

What do you know about them, and who has the best?

I finally ordered them last night from my local chinese delivery in Greenpoint. Yes, they were delicious, but I know someone out there is making a more authentic kind. I must find out more about these greasy, triangular, crustacean cakes!
