Best Cooking TV Shows from Around the Globe

If it doesn't have english subtitles, I won't be able to understand it?? I never said it should be in English either, and I was only referring to Jamie Oliver as he is a mainstream chef whose show has some personality and the old series Naked Chef gave a good look at London, England too. And yeah he does cook national dishes as England doesn't really have any British per se dishes it is just an amalgamation of influences from all over the world. But thanks for the other tips.

Best Cooking TV Shows from Around the Globe

Cool, thanks will check it out, just the equivalent of jamie oliver, raymond blanc etc... but from other countries and cooking their own national and regional dishes, so I suppose that means TV studio and professional chefs where possible.

Best Cooking TV Shows from Around the Globe

Sorry if this or a similar post has been put up before, but I'm looking for names of or links to good cooking TV shows from around the world, if you can find youtube videos with subtitles all the better as these can now be translated reasonably well, but I would love to build up a list of good shows from as many countries around the world as possible, I'm especially interested in Africa, the Middle East, China and Japan, but anywhere really, I'm fed up watching Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsey, etc... give their interpretations of how they think a countries food should be cooked, it would great to see local dishes cooked by people who actually now the culture, country etc...

Anyway thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Thanks again to eveyone for their tips, I'm off in a few days and was wondering for some last minut einfo if people might be able to suggest a few places worth visiting for their set lunch in the region of 1,000 to 1,500 yen. It seems that the set lunches are particulalry good in Tokyo so any reccomendations would be appreciated.

Thanks Rick, I have gone through the posts and come up with these places if you have any opinions on them?

Also I went to Crystal Jade when I was there a few years ago and was really impressed, I especially liked this spicey coconut and peanut soup/broth thing with glass noodles.

Anyway here is my list. Thanks again.

Mak's noodles
Mido cafe
Joy Hing
Chee Kee
Yung Kee - you've already commented so will definitely go here.

TOKYO TOP 3's!

Hi Silverjay, in response to your post I've done some research this morning and was wondering if I could run a few places by you? Also I can't figure out how to use the search function either if you could point me in the right direction.

I'm going to be staying in Yukigaya-otsuka which is between Tokyo and Yokohama so not particularly local to any area.

Anywhere these are the places that seem to keep coming up and that sound good. So if you could give me your opinions that would be great.

Definitely I'm planning on visiting lots of Depachika, ones that seem popular are:
Isetan, Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi

Then Gyoza stadium sounds great.

Obviously I will go to Tsukiji market one morning and Nakaya Donburi sounds good.

I know it's fast food but would quite like to try a Mos Burger.

Tomai for anago

Maisen for Tonkatsu

I'm also planning on a day trip to Hakone and hopefully Yokohama, and possibly even Kyoto if there is time.

Koumen and Ivan Ramen for ramen

Kanda Matsuya for Soba

Sushi ??

Yakitori ??
Memory lane for Izikayas

Any tips for good set lunches, there seems to be so many recommendations?

And then would you recommend any places on any of these posts as I like this blog:

TOKYO TOP 3's!

Hi, I'm off to Tokyo for a few days in a couple of weeks and will only be there for a short period so time is of the essence. As a result it would be amazing to get a list together of people favourite must visit places. So if people could give their top 3 favourite cheap eats as I'm pretty poor (preferably no chains), and also top 3 food related activities to do and I know it's not really food related but top 3 in general of their favourite things to do in Tokyo. Looking forward to hearing everyones favourite places.

TOKYO - WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE CHEAP EATS

Hi all, I'm heading of to Tokyo in a few weeks and was wondering if people could give me some tips for their favourite cheap eats in and around the city. I want to eat as much traditional-style Japanese food as possible in the week that I'm there and can't afford much more than 4000 Japanese Yen a day for all meals.

Thanks in advance.

Looking for recipe for Pakistani-Punjabi Grilled Lamb Chops like Tayyabs

Hi everyone, there's a Pakistani-Punjabi restaurant in London called Tayyabs and they are known for their amazing lamb chops, I've been loads of times and want to try to make them. So far the closest recipe i've found is this but it's not quite as good: If anyone has any ideas or knows the actual recipe that would be great or if there's a better place I could post this topic. Thanks in advance.

- 1 kg Lamb chops
- 1 cup Plain Yogurt
- 1 tsp garam masala
-1 tbsp. Lime Juice
-1 tbsp. tomato paste
-1 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
-1 1/2 tsp ginger and garlic, minced
-1 tsp. ground turmeric
-1 tsp red chilli powder
-1 tsp Salt
-1 tsp black pepper

Methods:

1. Wash and pat dry the chops.
2. Place the chops in a bowl. Pour lemon juice over, rub it well. Set aside for at least 20 minutes.
3. Mix all the remaining ingredients together and pour it over the chops and coat the chops liberally with this marinade. Cover and leave to marinate for 5-6 hours.
4. Prepare the grill - it is NOT ready until ALL the coals have a THICK coating of grey ash.
5. Remove the chops from the marinade.
6. Grill 4″ to 6″ from the coals, turning occasionally, until all the pieces are cooked through.

Looking for advice on best places for traditional cheap Bolognese food in Bologna

Hi barberinibee, thanks so much for all the advice, all the places look amazing, I'm still unsure where to go for some good tagliatelle ragu and tortellini in brodo, if you could let me know you're choices thats would be amazing, I love local small trattoria-style places.

Also where exactly is the main market district?

Thanks again, only a few weeks to go now.
