Bridal Shower Brunch suggestions--Queens/Long Island
check out Plum in Bayside. Or even Dinovan's in Bayside.
Graziella
There's a Graziella in Flushing on Francis Lewis, but I'm not sure if that's the one you're talking about.
New little bakery spot on 150th in Whitestone? Any info?
Quite disappointing to hear all the not so great reviews. I still wanna check them out, but I'm not rushing. If I happen to be in the neighborhood and have a parking spot, I'll go in. Thank you to everyone who replied!
New little bakery spot on 150th in Whitestone? Any info?
So, I drove by this "coming soon" bakery last week in Whitestone and from the looks of it, it is a bakery specializing in cupcakes! I heart cupcakes! Well, not all cupcakes--just the really yummy ones. Any info? I don't remember the name....I have to drive by again.
Anyone Try Naple` on Francis Lewis and 29th Ave yet?
So, we ended up getting take-out from here last night. It wasn't so bad, but not anything that great either. Our party got: gnocchi (pretty decent), faggotini (terrible name, but cheesey deliciousness), chicken parm (standard), and breaded chicken (a bit odd-tasting; not the chicken itself, but the prosciutto and brown butter sauce were a little off). Apps we got were: mussels (fine), baked clams (needed a good re-heat in the broiler: I guess they don't travel well) and eggplant rolatini (decent.) So, overall, not a huge disappointment, but I'm not rushing to go back. Though, I'd like to go dine there and check out the new interior and service. But, like ZenFoodist above, I think I will wait a while so that they iron out the kinks.
New place on Francis Lewis Blvd.?
So, does anyone know anything about this "57s: An American Grill" that's slated to open next week? I could have sworn I saw the owner of Jackson Hole in front. Just curious to know more. Has anyone looked at the menu?
Good eats for my b-day in Queens/Nassau?
I haven't heard of either of these places before! I'll definitely look into them both. Thanks so much!
Good eats for my b-day in Queens/Nassau?
My birthday is this weekend and hubby wants me to pick a place. Don't want Greek or Asian or anything particularly stuffy. I just want some good food and a good cocktail. Some of my faves are Honu Kitchen, Novita, West End Cafe. So, I guess something along those lines... I was thinking of maybe Prime in Huntington? Any other suggestions?
Greek in Astoria
Ovelia (contemporary), Agnanti (traditional), Aegean Cove (slightly more refined).
Tony Roma's to open at Bay Terrace Shopping Center
Ugh. For real? Last time I went there was the one on Northern for a wedding rehearsal dinner. It was about 20 years ago and the bridesmaid ensemble I was to wear the next day involved fuschia poofy shoulders and a headpiece. Why can't anything GOOD open up in Bay Terrace?? I heard rumors of a Panera opening up in the old Kinko's location. I would take that...
Best Pizza in Queens ??
I second VIPS. Their buffalo chicken pizza is out of this world!!!
Where to eat near the Richard Rogers Theater?
We're going to see In The Heights this weekend and we need a good pre-theater dinner experience? The theater is on 46th Street. Any recommendations? If not, I guess we'll just do Ruby Foos, which is fine, but I've been there soooo many times... Thanks!
Is Novita anniversary dinner-worthy? Any food recs?
So, we decided to go there. Their menu looks really good. Any opinions on the place or on any must-order items?
Help! Need to pick restaurant for anniversary dinner!
Thanks! I've always wanted to try it!
Help! Need to pick restaurant for anniversary dinner!
My hubby and I don't get out much anymore but we are GOING OUT for our 9 year anniversary. So, where to? Last year we went to Honu Kitchen and LOVED it. We are very much into upscale, but not pretentious, cuisine. And no sushi or seafood restaurants, please. Hubby is severely allergic to seafood. :-( So, I was looking at Besito, Piccolo, Rein Bistro & Bar, and Taste. Any of them sound good to you? Any others you can think of? Where should we go?? I want it to be good. Thanks in advance!!
Four Food Studio in Melville--child-friendly?
Hi! I haven't been here but may be meeting some people here on Sunday night for dinner. Catch is, I will have my son with me. Is this somewhere I can bring my son or are they really not child-friendly. He's 4 and he'll pretty much eat anything. I had heard a couple of years ago that they were very kid-friendly but I know they've had some changes... Aside from that, how is the food? Decor? Thanks to all for any info you may have!!
Peter's Market in Flushing
Has anyone noticed the Grand Opening sign? What's up with that???? New owners or something? I was thinking of ordering some food from there for my son's b-day party like I did a few years a go and everyone raved about the food. Would it still be the same? Anyone know anything about this?
Catering in Queens for approx. 70 people--Greek, Italian or American food?
That's so weird. I was just looking at Philoxenia's website!!!! I've heard wonderful things about it. But they don't mention anything about catering... I'll call. Thanks.
Catering in Queens for approx. 70 people--Greek, Italian or American food?
I'm looking for a space with great food, some room to dance and enough room for about 70 people. Food could be Italian, Greek or traditional/New American. Any ideas? We were looking mainly in the Bayside, Whiteston, Little Neck area, but are willing to go to Astoria, Sunnyside, etc. Has anyone been to any events at George Martin in Douglaston?
Upscale restaurants of Queens
What is up with this list? What about 718 in Astoria? Island? Deluge in Flushing? Plum in Bayside? Uncle Jack's, but NOT Uncle George's--Not upscale in the least!
Vesuvio in Whitestone--Child-friendly?
Hi! Has anyone been here? If so, would you say that it's okay to bring a 3-year-old? We're not looking for anything fancy. Have some family here from Greece who are aching for some Italian food. Just basic good stuff. They're big on big portions. I would love to take them to Sapore D'Ischia, but I know they wouldn't be able to appreciate it! So, something in the Whitestone/ Bayside area would be good.
Fontana Famous Pizza & Gyro (Bayside)
Eeew!! Where was this (the clothing label thing)? Fontana?
Cavo or Taverna Kyclades?
Ditto these suggestions. Agnandi really is my fave in terms of the food. Kyklades for the seafood.
Elias Corner, Astoria
I'm so over Elias. It used to be good, back in the day. And by that I mean in the 80's, when I was like 8 and would go with my parents. But since then it has become a bit of a "tourist" trap and their prices are just ridiculous. I miss the simplicity of it all. For good fish we now go to Cyclades on Ditmars (although I can't stand the location) and I really like Pelagos on Bell Blvd. They have this one dish that's whole fish wrapped in grape leaves and sea salt and it comes to your table flambeed! yay!
Old, traditional bakeries/pastry shops that still exist
How about D'Aquila on Francis Lewis? Love their cannoli and pastries in general.
Late lunch/early dinner for group
What kind of food are you looking for? If you liek Greek/Cypriot food, you can do Zenon on 31st Avenue. Their hot & cold apps. are a meal in themselves and it only comes out to like $20 a person and you get A LOT of food. How about Island on 36th Avenue? Trattoria L'Incontro was a also a great suggestion...
Anyone tried Mojave in Astoria?
I think it's on Ditmars and 31st...I just read about it in that Free magazine Dish Du Jour and I was so happy to see Southwestern in Astoria, but when I read that it's the same owners as Agave...I just can't deal with such terrible service...
Fontana Famous Pizza & Gyro (Bayside)
You know...you're right! I always forget that place is there b/c I never drive North on Utopia! How is it? How does it compare to Kati Allo, Avli, etc.? Are their souvlakia cooked to order or cooked and then preheated like Fontana's?
SALA in ATLANTA? New chef?
Where did the new chef come from? Anyone know? Prier is his/her name, I think? Any major changes to the menu?
