Good place for after-dinner drinks for a group of 8

Are there any cocktail lounges or bars, perhaps with a small secluded section, to have drinks with a birthday dinner. We're not too price sensitive and would like to keep it downtown as our dinner is at Hudson Clearwater.

Thank You!

2 Day Trip - Foodie Itinerary Review Please

Hi there!

I'm planning a quick getaway from NYC and am staying from Saturday Morning to Monday Morning. We are staying at the W hotel but wouldnt mind travelling for a meal.

Can anyone please provide a critique of my following plan or recommendations for places where i can fill in some additional snacks. Additional comments on meal planning (too much of the similar cuisine in 1 day) would also be appreciated!

We would like to stay with montreal staples however would like to diversify our palates with other interesting cuisine in the area. Lastly, for brunch, rather than going for the standard eggs type brunch wed be happy to substitute a heartier lunch at a good montreal restaurant we cant visit for dinner due to time constraints.

Thanks!

P.S. We LOVE foie gras :)

Saturday Morning - Jean Talon market
Saturday Lunch - Lemeac (1PM)
Saturday Dinner - Club Chasse et peche (6PM)
Saturday Late Eats - L'Express

Sunday Breakfast - TBD / Olive & Gourmando
Sunday Lunch - TBD
Sunday Dinner - Au Pied De Cochon (8PM)
Sunday Late Eats - La Banquise

Hip Non-Steak Centric Birthday Dinner (<$100 pp)

Hi there,

Can anyone please recommend a Non-Steak centric birthday dinner for a group of mid 20's travelers? We would like to keep it under $100 pp inclusive of tax/tip and perhaps a drink. We're coming in from NYC and would appreciate a new spot with a happening scene.

Thanks!

Any good "Special Tables" without a minimum?

Can anyone recommend any good venues with special tables or rooms without a pre-fixe minimum. We did Blue Ribbon Bakery last year which was nice and would like something similar, for 10-12 people under $80 with drinks if possible.

Thanks!

Places that were suggested were Alta, however they could not guarantee the balcony table.

Best Weekend Foodie Lunch Deals or Menus?

Can anyone advise on any good foodie good lunch deals that Montreal offers? I would be looking more along the lines of moderate-fine dining restaurants that possibly serve a good lunch menu representative of their dinner fare.

2 Days in Montreal - Foodie filled suggestions please?

Hello All,

Unfortunately we are only able to escape NYC for the weekend for our Montreal foodie adventure in April.

Things were looking forward to include: Foie Gras, and more Foie Gras as it is quite expensive in NYC (Especially the seared whole pieces which were are quite fond of)

Given our short timeframe and expansive food options, could CH recommend a good food itinerary for us (Arriving 11AM Saturday afternoon and Leaving Monday Morning).

We're looking through the boards and so far Au Pied de Cochon seems like a staple we need to try but would love other suggestion for the remainder of our meals. Wouldnt also mind trying a "Dinner" type place for lunch if available.

Thanks!

Dubai Fine Dining 2015 - Entertainer

Hello,

Could anyone with some information please provide some recommendations for some good fine dining options, and 1 buffet option for our trip from the entertainer book?

We're into seafood/new & modern cuisine and would like to try to stay away from steak.

So far for fine dining we've thought that Traiteur and Table9 would be interesting options.

For the buffet, the options are between the Atlantis, Westin, Fairmont Palm, JW Marriot, Palace (Ewaan), and Rixos Palm.

A list of items is below: Thanks!!

Bartolotta Cabana in January

Hello All,

Weather wise, would dining in a cabana at Bartolotta be undoable in January?

Lastly, while i understand it is under the Maitre'd's discretion even upon request, is there anything else we can do to ensure we can get one? I was thinking of slipping or mailing the host $20, but that almost seems like a slap in the face for vegas standards.

Special Tables / Rooms on a Somewhat Budget?

Hi All,

Im looking to plan a great 25th birthday for a good friend of mine, there will be four of us and would like to specialize in a seafood/italian restaurant, but dont have too much of a preference for the right place (but no steakhouses).

Our budget would be around 150 a person after tax/tip. While i understand that in the land of whales this is a small amount, has anyone heard of a restaurant possibly accommodating a special experience perhaps on a last minute/cancellation basis for such a low tab|

Thanks!

18 Hour Layover Hong Kong - Any Standout Lunches/Must Visits

Thank You,

Considering we are from NY and definitely have some good french food (but not as good dim sum), would you still recommend foregoing the nicer michelin starred dim sum restaurant?

Perhaps we can do a good hong kong breakfast for breakfast in substitute of a fine dining restaurant, any good spots or areas for that? Thanks!

thanks! We planned a dim sum lunch at tin hung keen at 11:30. We'd love to try the sunday brunch buffets or amber, would a 3:30/4:30 be too late? any advice on planning around the dim sum or perhaps rescheduling would be appreciated.

Hong Kong - San Hing Comparable to Lung King Heen/Fook Lam

Hello,

Can anyone provide any recent comments on how San Hing stacks up to
Lung King Heen/Fook Lam/Tin Lung Heen.

The hours of operation for San Hing fit our schedule quite nicely but want to make sure we have a good culinary experience.

Thanks!

18 Hour Layover Hong Kong - Any Standout Lunches/Must Visits

Hello All,

I will be arriving into HKG at 5AM Sunday and leaving at 7:45 PM on my flight back to NY. This will conclude our vacation around taiwan/bangkok.

Could CH please advise on any standout lunches that would be conducive to a half-day layover? We would like to keep the lunch under or around $70 USD per person and perhaps a lunch menu at a well regarded / michelin starred restaurant would suit our plans.

We look to have our dim sum early at San Hing/Tin Lung Heen or Fook Lam Moon (Any recommendations between all these would be great as well) and perhaps make a 3PM lunch.

Thank You!

So far my research has yielded the following, Unfortunately our top choice is closed on sunday:
Bo Innovations: Closed on Sunday
81/2 Otto e Mezzo: Closed on Sunday
Above & Beyond: ~$40 Set Menu

Any recent Phuket / Koh Samui Recommendations?

Hello all,

Im travelling with my family to Phuket/Koh Samui and while I understand the dining will be a bit hit or miss, I've been trying to do some research.

Many of the posts seem quite outdated however. Can anyone recommend any places to check out for both local thai food and perhaps something a bit more upscale for one or two of the days.

I've heard about the following:

Aziamendi: For our blowout dinner, hoping for a December promotion
Kru Suwit Seafood: Seems like an interest experience
Kaneasng Seafood: Another seafood restaurant
S&G: Local fare
Baan Rim Pa: Touristy and expensive, may not go here.

Aziamendi Phuket Worth it w/ Promotions

Hello,

Can anyone provide any recent reviews or discussions regarding Aziamendi in Phuket? While some people seem to be disappointed that it was very similar to the Chef's original restaurant, we have not been to either and think it would be a good treat. Also to be noted, is the 50% off promotion for the month of November, making it affordable for us.

Can CH reccommend me for or against this for our splurge meal in phuket?

Thanks!

Best Saturday Brunch Bangkok

On the heels of reading an article titled "Bangkok: Welcome To The Land Of Baller Sunday Brunch" I'd like to see if CH could provide their opinion on the best options for a saturday brunch in town. I've heard several names float around (Sukhothai, westin grande, 4s, st regis, sheraton grande) but wanted to see which if any served on a saturday and would be most recommended.

Thanks!!
