Can Ice Cream Taste Rich Without All the Fat?

Gelato uses whole milk and eggs for the richness.

You can achieve creamy textured frozen desserts using frozen bananas as your base. Even just frozen bananas in a food processor are fabulous. If you want to up the fat factor, I'd add coconut milk and a but of sweetener, although you don't need too much of the refined stuff cause the bananas are sweet enough. You could also add raw cacao powder and a sweetener for chocolates goodness.

Looking for advice on this list of Vancouver possibilities

Thanks for all the help and recommendations. I think we'll have plenty to choose from! I realise too I forgot to ask about restaurants that emphasize locally sourced products.....

Looking for advice on this list of Vancouver possibilities

Thanks for this-we are headed to Vancouver in two weeks and I'm working on my own list as well. We're staying at the Four Seasons downtown, and we're already committing to a meal at Vij's. Wouldn't mind suggestions on super fresh seafood/sushi or a good spot for a light fuel up after a yoga class.
Any inside info on Chinatown would be greatly appreciated too, we're big fans of noodles and Sichuan cuisine.
Lastly, is Market by Jean Georges worth going to? The mains are pretty pricey but I could be very happy having a glass of wine at the bar and eating from the bar menu. The food doesn't look revelatory, but it is JG.....

Thanks in advance!

Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage–Brown Butter Sauce

You can buy pureed butternut squash in a can (much like canned pumpkin) right now at Whole Foods and probably a whole slew of other places. I imagine if you season the puree as per the recipe, you can save yourself some serious time! I may try that this weekend....let you all know how it goes!

disgusting, I know, but.....I need a jello "salad" recipe....

My Grandmother used to make this jello salad too, especially at the holidays. In all actuality its not that bad, albeit I'd prefer AW any day but we all can't be foodies. I don't remember grandma's recipe using celery, and she always used pecans for the nuts.

Good luck!

Your best "healthy" banana bread recipe please

This is my go to banana bread as well, it's fantastic. I actually use fat free Greek yogurt, Fage 0% is my fave. A little nutmeg is a great addition as well. Enjoy!!!

What is Kombucha?

If you buy the bottled brands available at places like Whole Foods or other health stores, they should have carbs listed on the back. These are kept in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. Most of GT Dave's flavors have 7g carbs per 8oz serving. I dont know about dry kombucha tea, but I would assume if there is no nutritional data on the box, the carbs and calories are negligble.

What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented Chinese tea that i personally really enjoy. The fermentation process is aided by the addition of sugars, which are your carbs. Depending on the brand you buy (I prefer the G.T. Daves / Synergy brand, or the Austin made Buddhas Brew) the carb/sugar content will vary as well. The GT Daves has about 7g of carbs per 8oz serving, but a bottle makes a great snack.
From what I've read about home brewing the stuff, I'd leave it to the pros as you can get very ill if improperly brewed.
