Athens, GA - updates, anybody?
There is sometimes a place on 441 N before the J+J on the right, I say sometimes because he had moved in town for a bit, where they make their own mole. Just not sure if he is opened or closed at the moment. I have no idea what it miight be called.
Are there ANY good cockails in Athens?

Both Luna and Big city have stands at the farmers market in Bishop park.. Couldn't find Antonio Zenere in the phone book or I would have sugested you call and ask him. I was too hooked on the tuna sandwhich to cast my eyes elsewhere..
Athens to Savannah
When I go that way, I take 78 to Thompson and then route one down to 16. There is (was)a good sandwich place on the square in Washington (2 miles off route) and there is a farmers market there that sells local beef, Sat. a.m..
If you decide to take 15 ( I prefer rt one, divided highway, less deer) dairylane is the classic stop. In my opinion....just cuz it's there. I know people who won't drive that road without stopping even if you just get tea!

Barbacoa - Curried Goat?
That's what I what I was thinking here are a couple of curry powder recipes
Jamaican Curry Powder
1 tbsp cumin seeds (15 ml)
1 tbsp mustard seeds (15 ml)
1 tbsp fenugreek seeds (15 ml)
1 tbsp anise seed (15 ml)
1 tbsp black peppercorns (15 ml)
1 tbsp coriander seeds (15 ml)
1/2 tbsp allspice (7 ml)
1 tbsp turmeric powder (15 ml)

1 ounce coriander seeds
2 ounces cumin seeds
1 Tablespoon poppy seeds
½ Tablespoon clove

1 ounce ground ginger

Barbacoa - Curried Goat?
Make a potato curry add shredded or cubed goat, cook a bit. How strongly seasoned is the Barbacoa?

Super Marcado has perhaps noted the competition, they now carry head on shrimp as well.

I agree with batdown on most, but happen to like the meatloaf and trout at five star and a greasy gyro at gyro wrap ( though very unlike Greece and last time I was there one of the cooks had unknowingly sliced himself and was dripping blood, gag. Don't think I'll go back, except to buy flat breads)
Big city Has never moved me, I cant help but see them as an understocked bakery, good if they have any.
Pizza? Little Italy is possibly the scuzziest place in town, sort of irrelevant if you know pizza in the north east. a good slice is a good slice. And depalmas puts on some pricey airs but the crust is respectable (ask for it crispy) and the sauce not sweet.
I have never had an order entirely correct at transmet but what was right was good and they have fixed what was wrong (a roasted red potato instead of roasted red pepper calzone)
Last Resort for dinner has always been a disaster for me as well, The cakes, Cecilia's, leave a greasy mouth feel I despise.
Don't understand why any one would go to Basil press with Five and Ten in town, in fact if I could afford it would go there for many a meal.
As for Mexican/South American... Fillet al la plancha or Camerone a Diable (SP?)

Mills Farm Brunch Sunday in Athens?
I went last year and enjoyed it. Food was well done, the chefs took advantage of the season. The garden was full of tomatoes, and it may be worth the trip just to see the pump he created and the mill!
five and ten in athens, GA
Five and ten is a special occasion place for me and I have never been disapointed some things are always better than others . The years ago I had a lobster salad with green godess dressing that, well ...it made me giggle. I usualy order from the specials they sing. Staples are good but do not show the inventiveness of "whats good now".
You can not go wronge with a fresh oyster sampler, or the frois gras however it is handled. The wine selection is well chosen and if your unsure and ask very well paired.
They now offer a prix fix menu befoere 6 pm and have a reasonably updated web site so you can check your options.

Hello, can't remember where the huddle house is, but the place I am referring to is on Frederica, Ace. I usually get fish, soft corn. they are pretty traditional so I suspect all of the above.
Last time I was down, (July) there was a new place that seemed eager to please just burgers and such, but cheap and good. Little mall I had never noticed before in front of the Publixs (?) at the end of the Sea Island causeway on Frederica.
Sorry to be so vague, but when I go down there it's for work, ahh, the wonder of the 70 hr week.

there is a taco place by the hardware store, well a hut really they may have a picnic table out side, there is no inside, but great tacos
