Additional Dinners for a Christmas LV Trip

Not sure about Guy Savoy on christmas day, had been planning to go to Robuchon on christmas so I had not actually checked if savoy was open. No connections actually, just figured out the first day I could book them in advance for all of the dates I wanted to go and called/emailed literally the first minute that I could.

As for the Twist suggestion, that comment about the flavor combos is exactly what has me hedging on going there. I had an acquaintance and his girlfriend go there and they said a few of the dishes were awful. But, I don't necessarily trust their judgement and we are adventurous eaters.

Additional Dinners for a Christmas LV Trip

I am taking my wife to LV for a bit of a foodcation christmas day through the end of the month and I was looking for some additional suggestions for dinners. Right now i've got reservations at Joel Robuchon, e', and the chef table at guy savoy. I also am planning to take her to sage as i've loved both the meals i've had there in the past. We've still got 2 other dinners to work out and maybe some other meals if we aren't in permanent food coma after those tasting menus the first 3 nights. Looking for suggestions from anyone whose had an eye opening meal out there lately.

Yeah, it wasn't good, but we were celebrating getting married, our wedding was a few days before we went, and I didn't want to throw a fit about it and completely ruin it. The food was still fantastic there, you can't take that part of it away.

Thank you for your recommendations. I will have to head back to Alinea at some point as maybe I didn't have the experience that most others have there. If I am laid back and portray that to the staff, I expect them to try and tone it down a little, it should be a privilege to have me as a diner, not make me feel like they are doing me a favor and allowing me to drop $1000 on a dinner there. The staff constantly hovered by my table and repeatedly bothered my wife about taking notes in a small pad so she could piece all the dishes together later on (never had anyone hassle her about this at any other restaurant we have been to). We went when they still had the Tour and were pushed through it in just about 3 hours, I didn't even have time to breathe in between courses. One of the staff even had the audacity when my wife asked if there was a specific way to eat a certain dish to tell her "I think its fairly obvious". Again, maybe just an off night, but I've had better service at many other places, L2O blew them out of the water.

We are likely looking at EMP for lunch as well. I spoke with them last week and they currently take reservations 28 days out so I'll be calling there in the next few days to work on that reservation

Thank you for the feedback, Morimoto was on that list because we are Iron Chef fans, but I'm open to looking elsewhere if consensus is that it is not worth the cost for the Omakase. My wife is very interested in seeing what Scott Conant can put out at Scarpetta so we may look at going there as well.

We are going in late April, calling Per Se for reservations would start tomorrow being 30 days out, and we will likely be doing lunch, so it shouldn't be too big of a problem. From my understanding Ko only does reservations 10 days out and we are trying for a weekend lunch for the longer tasting, i've seen those spots open fairly consistently when i've been checking their site.

Hi All,

My wife and I are taking a trip to NYC in April for a week long vacation to celebrate 2 new jobs, a new marriage, an our gluttonous love for everything food related. Below is a list of the places so far that I have been looking at booking reservations for. Cost isn't much of an issue here, its a last hoorah before settling down with a house payment. The one thing we hate is a stuffy atmosphere or snooty staff. We are from Chicago and Alinea's 6+ server team for our table was mostly overbearing and made us feel rushed the whole time, our ideal dinner is something like Schwa where it is fun and relaxed. With that said, if the food is mind blowing, we can settle for a little stuffiness if we have to. We will typically go for a full tasting menu if it is available. Looking for input and suggestions on where to go (or maybe where not to of what i have already listed), feel free to hit me with some knowledge.

Currently planned large meals in no particular order:
