Breakfast in Paris for someone with celiac disease (wheat intolerance)

Bonjour!

My Mother and I will be visiting Paris the first week in April. My Mom has an intolerance to wheat which includes rye, flour, barley, and oats. Lunch and dinner shouldn't be a problem for us but I was thinking that breakfast might be a little harder to navigate. We will be staying in the 16th and I have a feeling my Mom might want to eat in our neighborhood and then head out for the day to do our exploring. From doing some research I still wasn't sure if boulangeries and tea shops would offer things other than baked goods. Would any of you be able to make some recommendations for places where she could get some fruit, yogurt or maybe eggs?

Let me know if you need any additional info from me. Merci!!

Lincoln center dinner

Ed's Chowder House. Fresh seafood, amazing New England Clam chowder, a $35 prix fixe dinner menu and great service. Before you order they ask if you have a show to get to. Try the scallop ravioli!

in search of a round table!!!

I was thinking about Blue Ribbon. I should call and find out! Thanks.

in search of a round table!!!

haha, how spotty?

in search of a round table!!!

hi all!
i have looked through some old posts in search of a round table for 7 or 8. i know that some places ( like la fonda del sol) have round tables for larger groups but we are looking to keep the prices lower than la fonda. as for food, the only real restriction is that we have a vegetarian in the group to consider. i was throwing around the idea of Korean BBQ (would forgo round table) but as a big meat eater I have never really paid much attention to veggie options. any thoughts?
also, a place that isn't super loud would be ideal. please let me know if i have left anything out! thanks in advance.

NYC CHer needs help for weekend in Providence.

Thanks for all the tips!! I am really looking forward to this trip and I think we will have some great meals! I have to say that I am a bit surprised by the "unsafe" comments, and I think my definition of "unsafe" is probably pretty different from Frank's. Anyway...
So I am thinking that Hemenway's might be good for Saturday night dinner and Nick's on Broadway would fit the bill for Sunday brunch. I have also heard a lot of talk about Seven Stars Bakery, and was thinking that we might grab some baked goods for breakfast on Saturday. As for lunch that day I am still not sure where to go. I guess it might be a good idea to walk around Federal Hill and snack as we go.
Thanks again for all of the advice!!
OH! I forgot -- My sister goes to Providence College.

NYC CHer needs help for weekend in Providence.

Hello all! I am a Bronx CHer who will be visiting my little sister at college in late October and I wanted to get some insider tips for good eats in Providence. We will want some good local grub for lunch and one nice rec for Saturday evening. I am not really sure what the specialties of RI are but we love everything, especially seafood! As for dinner on Saturday, I am not looking for super high-end but would be willing to spend $50/person (including wine, etc). I know my sister likes Andino's but I would like to treat her to something new and not Italian (I get plenty of that down here). Thanks in advance for all of your tips, and let me know if I need to be more specific in my request!

leaf chocolate?

Has anyone seen any chocolate shaped like a leaf with gold foil around the city? I can't seem to find anything on the internet except cheap wedding favor chocolate.

Tapas tonight?

Might be too late, but I have been going to this place for many years, and it is still one of my favorites.

James Beard Week- Cheap Eats?

I have to get on this!

Is Halfsteak still going on??

So good, but the "halfsteak" was my least favorite part. The highlights: oyster sake shots, fried mac and cheese, smoked chicken wings with white bbq sauce(best ever), and the sliders with balsamic onions & truffled pecorino (outstanding)

NYC CHer needs a Philly (City Center) rec

I like to eat at tons of places in NYC (crispo, keens, fleur de sel, sripraphai, sapporo, etc.) but my cousin is picky (she has a fear of melted cheese!). She is from CT but moved down to Philly for work and NEVER goes out to eat. I've seen her eat hamburgers and Chinese. Maybe Standard Tap would be good, but I was thinking something a little more special for her birthday. I know she has eaten at Monks before, because it is right around the corner from her. I might have to do lunch there on Sunday - heard it is good.

NYC CHer needs a Philly (City Center) rec

My sister and I are headed down to Philly this weekend to celebrate my cousin's birthday. We need a place to eat on Saturday night in City Center. I would say we wouldn't want to spend more than 60/person and I don't think my cousin is super adventurous when it comes to food (no sushi). Anything new, delicious with local ingredients (and beer) is also always a plus!

Thanks in advance!

Is Halfsteak still going on??

I was just wondering if the Craftsteak Wednesday night promo was still going on. Also, if you went let me know what you liked!!!

Thanks!

what's missing from my list of must-try pizzas in nyc?

A must try is 089 trattoria on Arthur Ave in the Bronx. Amazing brick oven pizza! Not only is their margherita amazing, but their special pies, like la riccardo (Butternut squash puree, smoked mozzarella, pancetta, basil) is not to be missed.

What's the plan for restaurant week?

I am going to check out Quality Meats b/c I haven't tried it yet. I might even end up ordering off of the regular menu - that QM 2lb lobster roll has been calling to me.

What's the plan for restaurant week?

I did the Modern Bar room for RW this past summer and it was wonderful. They offered more than three choices per course and the food and service were both outstanding. ! I'll never stop thinking about the blue cheese flan I had with my steak - it was slammin'.
Here are some photos!
