Only 3 Dinners in St. Martin...What Are Your Favorite Picks?

Grand Case is the gourmet center of the island which itself is the gourmet capital of the Caribbean.

The best restaurant on the island is in Grand case and it's called L'Estaminet. Google their reviews. Nuf said
Other restaurants to consider: Spiga, Skip Jack's(not fancy but good) and La Vie en Rose. For a great, reasonable restaurant that serves local creole food try Yvette's.

Brooklyn Egg Creams

Coney and J? I lived on on Coney and J. It was caddy corner to the bank. Did you work at Bobbins or the luncheonette across Coney Island Ave from there?

Kosher in St Maarin, St Thomas, San Juan, Tortola or Antigua?

We just found out about the Jewish center in SXM. We met the rabbi. It's actually above Zee Best in Simpson Bay near Top carrot. They sell Kosher food if you want to buy any though there is no reason to buy any if one is on a ship. He would know what the story is is far as Kosher on the island goes. I don't know how to contact him but by the stairs leading to the center I think there is contact info. Just as at Zee Best where the stairs are.

UES Delivery?

There are tons of places near her like Roma Pizza on the corner of 88th and 3rd. However if I were to recommend one place it would be 3 Decker Coffee Shop on 2nd Ave and 91 St. They have an extensive menu, serve good comfort food and are very reasonably priced.

Veatery on 2nd @ 88th

I ate there about 2 weeks ago. I liked it. The food was good. The service was fast, but not in a good way. They brought the main courses right after the appetizers and then as soon as it looked like we were finished, they gave us the bill.

Ate at Italian restaurant this weekend and they only offered bottled water - sparkling or flat

I believe that all restaurants in NYS have the following 2requirements:
1. They must have a restroom for the customers.
2. They must serve tap water if requested.

UES Delivery?

Is this prepared food or ready to eat food?

Ate at Italian restaurant this weekend and they only offered bottled water - sparkling or flat

My wife was in the restaurant business for over 25 years and that is what she told me. I can't quote the law, but as far as I know, any place that serves food in NYS must give a paying customer tap water if so requested. While I wouldn't bet my house on this, I do believe it's a health department regulation.

GOOD Jewish Bakery in Brooklyn???

I was going to ask if Lord's is still there as they had the best rye bead in the city in my opinion. I used to live in Brooklyn till 1965 and went there all the time. Even after we left, if either my brother or myself was anywhere in Brooklyn, we would go to Lord's for the rye. Glad to see they are still in business and their rye is still good.

Best restaurant to order fish and best place to buy fish in St-Martin

While you can purchase seafood in places like Grand Marche or Market Garden (2 American style supermarkets), you might want to check out Skip Jack's in Simpson Bay. It is a restaurant that also sells fish retail.

St Martin: Anywhere new and noteworthy

When you say new, how new, 1 year? 2 years?

Ate at Italian restaurant this weekend and they only offered bottled water - sparkling or flat

In New York State, it is illegal for a restaurant to refuse to serve tap water to a paying customer. In other words, they broke the law by refusing to bring tap water to the table when requested.
You asked how I would handle this situation? I would inform the manager that he was breaking the law by not bringing a requested glass of tap water and that if he still refused, I would report the restaurant to the department of consumer affairs. BTW, $7 for a bottle of water is outrageous.

The new Caffe on the Green

Caffe on he Green was supposed to open a new restaurant somewhere in Whitestone. Does anyone know the status of this? Are they open? Are they still in the process of getting ready to open? Have they opened and closed? Have the plans to open been dropped?

Minimum $10 Credit Card charge? Legal or illegal?

As others have said, it was NEVER a law. It was in the contract between the merchant and the credit card processor.

Nina and Blue Fin both in Middletown. Also in Middletown, Tony Boffas and El Bandido. A new, great find is Mountain View in Bloominburg

Port Jervis, Ny

Oooo. You're about a year too late. There was a restaurant in Port Jervis called 20 Front. It was in an old bank. The chefs/owners were CIA graduates. It's my understanding that the 2 partners had differences and as a result the place went under. I can't think of any really nice places to eat in either of the towns you mentioned. There are OK restaurants but not really good ones, at least that I know of. If you don't mind going to Middletown, there is Nina and Blue Finn. Those are really good restaurants.

We think alike. I live 6 blocks north of the UES Fairway. I also drive to the Harlem Fairway. I suspect that I will continue driving to that one on many occasions.

There should be a video of how A&P operates stores and show it as a, "How NOT to run a supermarket".

Please suggest Chinese restaurant near E.80's or E.90's with great food and decent sized portions.

[SXM] Food Shops and Lolo's

Grand Marche has several stores on the Dutch side. The 2 closest to the French side are in Cole Bay(not too far outside of Marigot) and near Philipsburg. They are American style super markets wth a large variety of things. There is also Fresh Market which is near the Great Salt Pond on the way to Orient Bay from Philipsburg.

Picnic Table spot in Central Park close to a bathroom for my 90-year old Dad?

I believe that right outside the north end of the sheep meadow has a nearby bathroom.

The New eats on Lexington and 75th

I walked by a new place on Lexington and 75th. It's called EATS(Oysters, Burgers, Martinis) and was wondering if anyone has tried this place out yet.

Nathan's/Yonkers/Central Ave

The Nathan's in Yonkers was one of the 3 original Nathan's. Of course the first is the one in Coney Island. The second was in Oceanside. Now it's a strip mall with a small free standing Nathan's in one corner. That one was huge in its heyday.
