Glad you liked it, Jim. I'm no expert on Jamaican food and I know that traditional Jerk is barbecued so thanks for putting this in context. I hope to check out the other items on their short menu. But as I noted the patties were not special, from Golden Crust. |

Actually kind of hidden in plain sight. On the corner of Fourth Ave and 10th St. Looks like a bare bones cafe, but tiny sign says Caribbean Food. I had a good jerk chicken with rice & peas and cabbage. Also a hearty chicken and dumpling soup. Everything homemade except for the patties. Worth checking out. |

On the Ocean Ave side of campus is the Avenue H station of the Q train. You can take it to Avenue U for the nearby Chinatown or to Canal Street (40 minutes) to the Manhattan Chinatown. |

There's a small Chinatown on Avenue U between Ocean and Coney Island Avenues. A 10 minute drive or short train ride from Brooklyn College. |

Best Trini/Jamaican/Roti shop in NYC? Ate for the first time at Shayna's on Saturday. Didn't try the doubles but the vegetable plate and the chicken roti very good. She made the rotis fresh from scratch as I watched. |

Great Lebanese in Scranton... YES, SCRANTON I was driving through on way back from Finger Lakes and tried this place. As good or better than what I've had in NYC. Both beef and vegetable kibbes fantastic. Chicken shawarma, lamb kebabs great. Only a few minutes off the interstate. |
