Corned Beef and Cabbage with Horseradish Cream Sauce

Great recipe - it does end up a bit drab and gray looking, but it doesn't affect the taste in any way and if that's what happens when you don't add saltpetre, I'm all for it.

Delicious - my only concern is that's its pretty heavy on the saturated fat. I tried substituting the cream with 1/2 fat creme fraiche and thought it was just as good.

Don't forget that if you have any leftover you can make them into arancini for snacking the next day. In fact I always make more than I need just so I have leftovers for arancini.

Basic Garlicky Spaghetti

Delicious and simple to make. You can also easily "pep" it up a little - try adding a few salted anchovies which melt slowly into the oil - just be careful not to add any extra salt. It is also good with some greens, such as rocket or spinach, stirred through at the end. The heat of the pasta wilts them, so no further cooking is required.
